But first of all you must transit the word Flidas instead of Belenos in the
sources list, in rolling Parabola this isnt a need to do this.

Re: [Trisquel-users] QupZilla-libre?

2017-11-21 Thread hd-scania
How ‘‘libre’’ this Falkon will be can’t be assessed? It is
migrating QupZilla from a Qt-only platform into KDE, but KDE is not Qt only,
instead needs to integrate between Qt and Gtk+/Gtk2, however by how much this
matters?
Basically, the "freeness" of Falkon/QupZilla cannot be assessed due to the
magnitude of transitions with the project, but at first blush there doesn't
seem to be any issues.

Re: [Trisquel-users] QupZilla-libre?

2017-11-21 Thread hd-scania
Yes I have heard QupZilla is integrating into KDE this summer, but not which
KDE needs QupZilla to replace their aging Konqueror, though I of course know
Konqueror was aging. Anyway I still dont see what QupZilla will be and
related names in the KF5 or KDE5 flags of apps from my Parabola system.

[hd_scania@hd-scania ~]$ pacman -Ss falkon
[hd_scania@hd-scania ~]$ pacman -Ss Pepper Qt
[hd_scania@hd-scania ~]$ pacman -Ss Pepper
[hd_scania@hd-scania ~]$
Also KDE has a well known major con to be too resources occupying, which KDE
needs to integrate Qt with the Gtk+ and Gtk2 apps, but LXQt, Deepin, Liri,
Lumina are only focused on Qt which unlike KDE they dnt integrate Qt with
other platforms.
To be Qt only please instead use LXQt, Deepin, Liri, Lumina, to be Gtk+ only
please use Xfce or GNOME, to be Gtk2 only please use MATE. By using KDE you
must accept that fate your machine will be too lagged due to its bloat.

Hello, quantumgravity and all, sorry for the delayed answer.

I read this thread way too late last monday and I apologize for that, this
last week has been a bit complicated for me although I understand that's not
an excuse for leaving a reasonable request unattended and much less for not
having worked before on the voting system which I agree has long-standing
issues that deserve our attention.

First of all, I'd like you to understand that we don't ignore these issues,
we set up the voting system a long time ago to prevent some specific
behaviours and the community and its needs have evolved since then. As other
aspects of the current site, it's not that easy to change this system into an
ideal solution but it can be improved to some extent.

Since I got up-to-date with the forum threads, I've been working on improving
the behaviour of this function and hopefully will soon have some changes
ready to address your concerns.

@quantumgravity, I tried to reach you by email but it didn't work and then I
realized your statement regarding this email address at your profile page.
Can you please contact me again providing some new address so I can write you
back?

Re: [Trisquel-users] Family Buying Me Cellphone Without My Consent

2017-11-21 Thread gnuser
Well, I can also sympathize with you... in that position it's really hard.
Even if you were living in your own, and were financially independent, you
should always thrive to make your family relations work and be in a nice
place. Simply being stubborn and acting carelessly is the way of a child.

So... I guess I would maybe advise you to:
a) always show to them you are thankful they thought of you and cared enough
to get you a phone;
b) keep on explaining the reasons you don't want a phone, maybe trying to
adapt it to their language and way of life, one day they might understand;
c) cooperate, like sometimes take the thing with you even though mostly you
leave it at home, also check it everyday at least once a day to make sure you
reply back to any message or lost call;

Apart from this I only wish you the best.

Well, after a little search I found a LO Calc file that already had some of
the work done for a birthday reminder. It's not perfect but I will use it for

As a side note, the command Magic Banana suggested didn't exactly work... I
had to get rid of the "sleep" command. I tried "sleep 1m" since I wanted it
to just take a minute to show the file and it wouldn't open the file. I
decided to just have it opening at startup, and it works with "localc

@Time4Tea Why does no one answer you? Unless you use your desktop to get
timely tasks completed, and nothing super critical is on it, I say give
Trisquel a try. Mind you, it seems like the real solution to Libre dilemmas
is to simply buy another computer. One machine to get work done, another to
explore Libre possibilities. Someone once gave me his desktop with an Nvidea
gaming card (he upgraded and bought a nice new beast) and Trisquel worked
nicely on the used one. Of course, the machine only lasted a couple of years.
Great while I had it though. It is sad that proprietary crap is used for
work, but hopefully this will be less so in the future, one GPL program at a
time. I write to AMD and beg (come to think about it, I should write another
letter to Dr. Lisa Su of AMD and beg s'more. Hardware is sort of another

2017-11-21 Thread leestrobel
I had a reply from rms - he sent me a copy of what he said to tonlee the day
before.

In summary: he said he's going to ask the FSF people to take a look and let
him know if they think the project would be a benefit to free computing. He
also said that the FSF would only endorse a crowdfunding campaign if it is
run on a site that uses free Javascript (which is understandable).

He said there are two crowdfunding sites that are known to use free
Javascript: Crowd Supply and Goteo.

I had a look at Crowd Supply and they seem pretty good. It looks like they
are quite strongly geared towards free software-compatible hardware projects.
According to their Wikipedia page, they have a high rate of success, partly
because of their close management of projects that they run. It seems that
they also have the ability to help with fulfillment (i.e. shipping and
handling), which could also be a plus for this.

Perhaps I should get in touch with them and see what they think about these
Raptor boards?

Your information seems out of date gd-scania

Firstly, QupZilla is no more. The project has formally joined KDE and is now
known as Falkon. The versions of Qupzilla in the repos are old and will be
deprecated. Secondly, Flakon will not be using QtWebKit anymore as it has
also been depreciated, Flakon (and the most current version of QupZilla) use
Qt WebEngine instead.

Flakon and QupZilla both carry GPL licenses and are free software. They are
not forks Chromium as far as I know, they use Blink which also carries the
GPL.

I am not familiar with Pepper, but I know Debian packages it separately, so
it would stand to reason that would be why it isn't included downstream to
Trisquel if Ubuntu didn't bother to change it. Since it is a pretty niche app
that seems likely.

Basically, the "freeness" of Falkon/QupZilla cannot be assessed due to the
magnitude of transitions with the project, but at first blush there doesn't
seem to be any issues.
