Re: [Trisquel-users] Tor Browser Bundle: DRM deleted or not?
How to configure Trisquel like Whonix? Or I need to deblob this distros? And I have question about DNS server. What difference have Tor and Unbound/BIND DNS server?
Re: [Trisquel-users] Tor Browser Bundle: DRM deleted or not?
meh..
Re: [Trisquel-users] Tor Browser Bundle: DRM deleted or not?
How rude! After we took the time to help you, too! -- Those distributions are pre-configured to proxy through Tor. Maybe they are more 'secure' than Trisquel, but you can configure Trisquel to proxy through Tor too. It would not be safe to do this though as you would have not configured the applications to connect safely. They include the 'blobs' so those are a security risk (although definitely understandable for Tails' use case). And we know you hate proprietary firmware blobs with a passion.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Tor Browser Bundle: DRM deleted or not?
Up.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Tor Browser Bundle: DRM deleted or not?
What about Tails & Whonix? Are this distros securest than Trisquel? If yes, how to get this security in Trisquel?
Re: [Trisquel-users] Tor Browser Bundle: DRM deleted or not?
It using TLS? I can use OTR/GPG? I will check TorChat code. And try to sniff my TorChat message and check encryption.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Tor Browser Bundle: DRM deleted or not?
For talking with my friends over Tor. If I need to use account for other things, that can deanonymize me, I will use other account.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Tor Browser Bundle: DRM deleted or not?
If I want to use ONLY Tor network to use E-mail I need Tor address? I know rules to be anonymous.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Tor Browser Bundle: DRM deleted or not?
It probably does not matter about whether the domain is a .onion one, if I am honest. I should point out that communicating with any of your associates from the Tor account would probably reveal your identity. Therefore, I don't think that if you are just going to use it for regular emails that you should use an email account solely on Tor. You could get an account using a Tor-friendly email provider, and use Torbirdy to hide your location, and use GPG to encrypt the messages as much as possible, keeping in mind that most people do not use GPG, and probably never will. I think you should look at this page: https://www.fsf.org/resources/webmail-systems I have used Posteo, which costs 1 EUR a month but I sent it in cash. Other options are OpenMailBox, which is gratis. You should only get an account that you solely use on Tor if you want to take part in anonymous activism. This does not mean less important things (compared to getting rid of authoritarian governments) like promoting free software. This means things like whistleblowing, trades union movements in authoritarian states, and pro-democracy activism in countries like China. Using such an account would be for anonymous blogs, and communicating with other activists hiding their identity ove GPG, certainly not for silly things like online shopping. The point I am making is that the way that emails work means that using a Tor-only email address to communicate with your associates inherently removes anonymity. You have to be careful when using Tor and make sure you use it correctly. I do not know if you are an activist, but I will assume not. I think what will be best for you is to make an account with one of the services listed on the page, and to use TorBirdy if you want location privacy, but to keep in mind that it will not be entirely anonymous as far as it goes. Use GPG as much as possible: https://emailselfdefense.fsf.org/en/ (there are other languages available, such as Russian, French, Spanish, Japanese and Turkish)
Re: [Trisquel-users] Tor Browser Bundle: DRM deleted or not?
TLS + GPG + User account on *.onion domain + TorBirdy = best anonymity?
Re: [Trisquel-users] Tor Browser Bundle: DRM deleted or not?
UPD: Do not close. If I want to use E-mail protocol, how to use it anonymous? What mail client I need? And/or what extensions?
Re: [Trisquel-users] Tor Browser Bundle: DRM deleted or not?
Read page code.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Tor Browser Bundle: DRM deleted or not?
That just proves my point. It is an automatically-generated page with nothing on it.

Re: [Trisquel-users] Tor Browser Bundle: DRM deleted or not?
Using Firefox with the Cisco H264 plugin works fine, but what's the best method to get Abrowser/IceCat/Tor Browser fully capable to play the content? I've looked at guides installing libav/ffmpeg and while it says I am good at http://html5test.com, I get errors sometimes about invalid format types. Especially in the Tor Browswr. With Trisquel 8, it will go back to ffmpeg instead of avconv due to Debian and Ubuntu preferring the original and not the fork for future releases.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Tor Browser Bundle: DRM deleted or not?
> Bugged page for TBB exists in Free Software Directory. No, it does not. There is no page for the Tor Browser Bundle in the Free Software Directory, just for Tor, which describes what Tor does. Tor is not the same as the Tor Browser Bundle. You do not need to contact the FSF. The Tor Browser Bundle is a special hardened Firefox respin. As soon as you make a "free" Tor Browser on a mere technicality (you can enable these plugins in GNU IceCat etc too, remember), it will have been updated, and then it will be your responisbility to keep up with their hectic release cycle, and if you did not you will be putting people in danger. Seriously, it is not in software repositories for a reason; it releases so rapidly the maintainers can't keep up! It seems you can't take no for an answer. It's your choice, whatever.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Tor Browser Bundle: DRM deleted or not?
Disabled plugin. Ok. But it CAN be enabled. I want to delete EME at all.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Tor Browser Bundle: DRM deleted or not?
Firefox's EME support is implemented as a plugin. TBB disables all plugins. Also, I think you're taking the responsibility of setting up a program to work safely with Tor too lightly.

Ok. I executing that commands (this means I want to close this topic): $ su - Password: # forumadmin topicctl *id* close stopctl quit # exit $ exit
Re: [Trisquel-users] Tor Browser Bundle: DRM deleted or not?
Go ahead, but it will be lots if work for little gain and you will probably throw up problems you did not anticipate.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Tor Browser Bundle: DRM deleted or not?
I compiled IceCat many times, and I won. I just wanted to include my (test) EV CA and certificate. I need to write my changes to text file and check new versions for new DRM. I hate DRM and I need to remove this. I will be starting the work soon. I need to check all code.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Tor Browser Bundle: DRM deleted or not?
Torbutton just proxies traffic through Tor, which is not enough to give you anonymity. TBB blocks code execution, so that would include the DRM schemes. Tor Browser Bundle connects through Tor. You probably shouldn't use it for anything else. It will be too much work to just download it to remove the "bad words" (presumably you mean compiling from source). Its development progresses at such a quick rate that you might forget to get the newer version, or compile it wrong or something. You are being too particular about this. If FSF was a Church you would be a zealous defender of the faith.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Tor Browser Bundle: DRM deleted or not?
If I port Torbutton to my browser and install NoScript, I can get all TBB security? If not: IceCat is Firefox, but ONLY DRM removed and URL's/copyrights changed to GNU? If yes, I will download TBB and remove code lines with "DRM", "EME" and other bad words for personal use.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Tor Browser Bundle: DRM deleted or not?
Tor Browser Bundle is configured so that you do not reveal your identity by mistake. It is very easy to do, most people have revealed their identity without knowing. You might think "these browsers are libre, they make me anonymous" but they still reveal things that are unique, like system fonts, screen orientation, unique browser text string identifier, operating system, etc. They may not connect through Tor correctly too. It is not a warning you should take lightly. If you want Tor, use TorBB: https://www.torproject.org/download/download-easy.html.en#warning Or don't use it at all. Seriously, nefarious types watch Tor users, and revealing your identity can sometimes be very damaging. For example, someone set up a Tor exit node as an experiment, and picked up sensetive, unencrypted communications from governments and UN personelle. You might make a similar mistake. Who knows? Use Tor Browser Bundle or don't use it at all.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Tor Browser Bundle: DRM deleted or not?
I will not be install TBB. I will be configure IceCat & Abrowser.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Tor Browser Bundle: DRM deleted or not?
use torbb.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Tor Browser Bundle: DRM deleted or not?
It does not really matter. It is not ideal, but Tor Browser is designed to "blend in" and act like Firefox on Windows, while blocking really nasty stuff around the internet. So don't use it if you are overly concerned about it, do if you want reasonable anonymity.
[Trisquel-users] Tor Browser Bundle: DRM deleted or not?
I using Tor with IceCat. But Tor Project recommends Tor Browser Bundle. I not know about DRM in this browser. I can use this browser or better way is continue using IceCat? P. S. It is "media.eme.*" config settings in IceCat and Abrowser. It is DRM? I forgot, but I think, it is "media.gmp-eme.*" in Tor Browser.
