I use ffmpeg to convert audio from mp3 to ogg. It works perfect.

OggConvert is a mature program and doesn't get many releases. That doesn't
mean it's unmaintained though. Rather it falls into the class of programs
that have accomplished what they set out to do. Much like procmail, which
hasn't had a release since 2001. It is stable and complete: They define the
features they wanted and worked on implementing them. Avoiding feature creep,
all of the bugs get slowly worked out and development slows. Unmaintained is
not the same as a mature program and I don't think Transmageddon has reached
that point yet.

I'm glad that I switch to Debian 8, everything works fine "out of the box",
still withing the guidelines of FSF not BEEN posses.

You can install Trisquel and any other Ubuntu based district without an
internet connection. It is just suggested so you can nab updates quicker.

I have to take that back, I just found it was a keyboard malfunction on my
part.

[Trisquel-users] Wish list for Trisquel 8

2016-04-29 Thread agullo
Got some wishes for Trisquel 8, and suppose that the rest of you would have
some too, so I decided to start a list.

1. Installers to comply with Free System Distribution Guidelines (GNU FSDG).
Trisquel 7 ISO image contains a installer that does not offer the four
freedoms - specifically, Trisquel text mode installer does not offer the
freedom 0, the freedom to execute, because it is an online installer and
relies on network connection which isn't either eternal or guaranteeable
against failure - as a matter of fact, the Trisquel 7 32-bit ISO text
installer is broken since more than two months ago because of a package which
fails to download. So, either no online installers or all online installers
having offline mode too.

2. Full-disk encryption capable installers. Trisquel 7 graphic installer has
no full-disk encryption capability because of requiring an unencrypted
partition for /boot. Trisquel 7 text mode installer has it. It would be
nice for all installers to have this capability.

3. Keyboard shortcuts. Trisquel 7 out-of-the-box lacks the most elementary
shortcuts: Undo (Ctrl+Z), Redo (Ctrl+Y), Cut (Ctrl+X), Copy (Ctrl+C), Paste
(Ctrl+V), Find (Ctrl+F), etc... I know that techies such as myself can create
this shortcuts in the Control Panel, but i) is it necessary to make us pass
through that pain without a reason?, and ii) that makes inviable recommending
Trisquel to other users, because of knowing that they are going to experience
recoil from the start.

4. Abrowser able to sync. Browser Abrowser, probably the first application
to be opened after completing the installation of Trisquel, has an old bug
prevents it from syncing. This happens not with Firefox. I know that
Trisquel cannot be blamed for this, just saying it would be nice for
Trisquels default browser being able to work right out-of-the-box.
