Thanks Luciano. But I wonder if this should ever be there as it is not used
anymore for definitions.xml aggregation. Now there is the definitions provider
mechanism for that.

Probably depends what you want, with -fn the tests still run with -
Dmaven.test.skip=true they don't. Not running the tests makes the build much
faster but without running the tests you don't know what problems there
might be with the jars that get built. A key thing is that with -fn a test
failure in one module does not stop the build of other modules, but, the jar
for the module with the test failure does not get built so if you want to
ignore a test failure but still rebuild a module then you need to use -
Dmaven.test.skip=true. On the other hand for things like the itest modules
you just want to see the tests results so it doesn't make much sense to use
-Dmaven.test.skip=true but -fn can be useful to see how good or bad the
state of the code is.

That's more I could dream of! I have never used -fn before so it's
nice to have read so comprehensive explanation why it might be useful.
Thanks.

I reviewed the thread discussion...its exciting to see the integration
evolving. To test on my own I installed Android on my mac and ran the
HelloAndroid application. Then I installed Tuscany from the binary
distribution followed by checkout of the source. Building failed, but I
guess it was because of the issues mentioned by Adriano at the end of the
thread. Interestingly, the failure was exactly the same as that reported in
 [1].

One thing I found interesting is the revision number was 640068 for
everything except ../java/sca which had a revision number of 640066. This
recently changed to 640078 for which i'm getting the error shown below, i'll
 continue looking into it.

[INFO] Cannot execute mojo: clean. It requires a project with an existing
pom.xml, but the build is not using one.

I also reviewed the documentation, which I found very useful! Any other
info about the integration will be really useful. Also any tips for the
 application are welcome!

Thanks in advance, i'm finding all of this to be really interesting!

How to set the endpoint URI on a CallableReference?

2008-03-23 Thread Jean-Sebastien Delfino
In the admin application I'd like to be able to get a CallableReference
injected in a client component with:

CallableReferenceMyBusinessInterface myReference;

then before calling it, change its endpoint URI in my client code (as
the endpoint URI is given to me by the user of the application).

How do I do that? in the absence of public APIs to do that is there a
Tuscany API that I can use?

Thanks.

[SCA 1.2] TUSCANY-2115 branch cleanup

2008-03-23 Thread Luciano Resende
As part of TUSCANY-2115 [1] I have some local changes to remove the
following projects :

   - tools/maven/maven-definitions
   - tools/maven/maven-dependency-lister
   - tutorial/www-services
   - tutorial/nodes-jee
   - demos/workpool-distributed
   - itest/interop-soap-client
   - itest/interop-soap-round2-client
   - itest/interop-soap-service
   - modules/implementation-das
   - modules/implementation-openjpa
   - modules/data-engine-helper
   - modules/implementation-data-xml

It would be great to hear from others if we could also remove the
following projects

   - modules/node ?
   - modules/node-api ?
   - modules/node-impl ?

Most of these modules are being excluded either because they don't
work, or are obsolete, or has dependencies on SNAPSHOT builds. If
nobody have issues, I'll committ these changes sometime soon, so they
are available in case of a SCA 1.2 RC2.

[jira] Created: (TUSCANY-2122) Incorrect conversationID in ConversationImpl instance when Scope is REQUEST

2008-03-23 Thread Vamsavardhana Reddy (JIRA)
Incorrect conversationID in ConversationImpl instance when Scope is REQUEST
-

 Key: TUSCANY-2122
 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TUSCANY-2122
 Project: Tuscany
  Issue Type: Bug
  Components: Java SCA Core Runtime
Affects Versions: Java-SCA-1.2
Reporter: Vamsavardhana Reddy
 Fix For: Java-SCA-Next

Even though the ConversationManagerImpl is generating a new conversationID, I
am noticing that when the Scope is set to REQUEST, the conversationID in the
ConversationImpl object is not initialized with the new conversationID even
after ending a previous conversation. The following shows the sequence of
operations I am invoking on the service.

1: cid=015fe250-911f-49cd-b0f2-4314a2358db4
2: 015fe250-911f-49cd-b0f2-4314a2358db4:MyConvServiceImpl.operation1
3: 015fe250-911f-49cd-b0f2-4314a2358db4:MyConvServiceImpl.operation2
4: 015fe250-911f-49cd-b0f2-4314a2358db4:MyConvServiceImpl.endConversation
5: cid=0763175d-0e42-4a0a-a687-81e9cf69b62a
6: 015fe250-911f-49cd-b0f2-4314a2358db4:MyConvServiceImpl.operation1
7: 015fe250-911f-49cd-b0f2-4314a2358db4:MyConvServiceImpl.operation2
8: 015fe250-911f-49cd-b0f2-4314a2358db4:MyConvServiceImpl.endConversation

The cid=... lines are printed in ConversationManagerImpl.startConversation().
I would expect that the conversationIDs printed in lines 6 to 8 to be same as
the one in line 5.

The following is the output with default Scope:
cid=8a68b062-a366-4ecf-b036-eb3d4454713e
8a68b062-a366-4ecf-b036-eb3d4454713e:MyConvServiceImpl.operation1

8a68b062-a366-4ecf-b036-eb3d4454713e:MyConvServiceImpl.endConversation
cid=21ff85ba-1ef9-444e-80a9-a6419d764d60

[SCA 1.2, RC1]: policy sample

2008-03-23 Thread haleh mahbod
Hi,

When I run the calculator policy sample (calculator-implementation-policy),
I get warnings saying that the No PolicyHandler has been registered. The
sample says, just go to the directory and type ant run and that is what I
followed. Is there an additional step needed that I am missing?

I thought that demo was working (although I just tried it and am getting
errors), but I find it really interesting. What needs to be done to keep
it in the release?

Jean-Sebastien Delfino resolved TUSCANY-2118.

Resolution: Fixed

Fixed in 1.2 branch as well.

AtomBindingInvoker handling out of sync with Collection interface
 -

 Key: TUSCANY-2118
 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TUSCANY-2118
 Project: Tuscany
  Issue Type: Bug
  Components: Java SCA Core Runtime
Affects Versions: Java-SCA-1.2
Reporter: Jean-Sebastien Delfino
Assignee: Jean-Sebastien Delfino
 Fix For: Java-SCA-1.2

The AtomBindingInvoker does not correctly implement all the methods on the
binding Collection interface, and is also missing the implementation of the
methods on the data Collection interface, making it not really usable.
I'm working on a fix for that issue.

The Start button in the admin app only works if the node is configured to run
on localhost, it should send the start request to the specified host (from
 the node URI) instead.

Data Collection.Entry objects used by the Atom and RSS cannot be serialized

[jira] Resolved: (TUSCANY-1953) Feed-aggregator sample does not stop properly

 [

Jean-Sebastien Delfino resolved TUSCANY-1953.
-

Resolution: Fixed

This issue has been resolved.

Feed-aggregator sample does not stop properly
 -

 Key: TUSCANY-1953
 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TUSCANY-1953
 Project: Tuscany
  Issue Type: Bug
  Components: Java SCA Tomcat Integration
Affects Versions: Java-SCA-1.1
Reporter: Jean-Sebastien Delfino
Assignee: Jean-Sebastien Delfino
 Fix For: Java-SCA-1.2

To reproduce the problem, start the feed-aggregator sample using ant run,
point your Web browser to http://localhost:8083/atomAggregator, then press
enter in the window where you started ant run. The program should exit but
 doesn't.
The problem is that ThreadPoolWorkManager used by the TomcatServer to handle
incoming HTTP requests and read from the input TCP/IP socket does not create
Daemon threads. Tomcat leaves a thread alive blocked on the input socket and
that live thread prevents the JVM to exit.
This problem is not specific to the feed-aggregator sample, it happens with
any Tuscany application using our embedded TomcatServer. The problem does not
 occur with Jetty.
I am fixing it by marking the threads as Daemon threads in
 ThreadWorkPoolManager.
