I've cleaned up the tutorial modules in SVN revisions r640322 (trunk) and
r640325 (1.2 branch), so they should be OK to include in the distro now.
Modules tutorial/jee-services (formerly nodes-jee) and tutorial/www-services
should be excluded as they don't work yet.

[jira] Created: (TUSCANY-2128) Store sample should include fixes and improvements from the store tutorial

Store sample should include fixes and improvements from the store tutorial
--

 Key: TUSCANY-2128
 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TUSCANY-2128
 Project: Tuscany
  Issue Type: Bug
  Components: Java SCA Samples
Affects Versions: Java-SCA-1.2
Reporter: Jean-Sebastien Delfino
Assignee: Jean-Sebastien Delfino
 Fix For: Java-SCA-1.2

The store sample should be brought in line with the bigger store from the
tutorial, as a number of improvements have gone into the tutorial version of
the store, including:

- client HTML + javascript fixes
- using the simpler data collection interface instead of an Abdera feed
- using beans instead of strings to represent items in the store

Re: [VOTE] Release Tuscany Java SCA 1.2-incubating (RC1)

2008-03-24 Thread Raymond Feng

Hi,

I'm not sure why we are voting on a 1.2-incubating-SNAPSHOT version.
Shouldn't the distros be built from a tagged version for 1.2-incubating?

Thanks,
Raymond

Subject: [VOTE] Release Tuscany Java SCA 1.2-incubating (RC1)

Please review and vote on the 1.2 release artifacts of Tuscany SCA for
Java.

The artifacts are available for review at:
http://people.apache.org/~lresende/tuscany/sca-1.2-RC1/

This includes the signed binary and source distributions, the RAT report,
and the Maven staging repository.

If you do find issues with the release candidate that you think need
to be fixed and lead to a -1 please review and fix them in the 1.2 branch
or raise jira's targeting the 1.2 release.

Thanks,

Re: [VOTE] Release Tuscany Java SCA 1.2-incubating (RC1)

2008-03-24 Thread Luciano Resende
At the moment of the RC1, we still had some blocker issues, so,
anticipating we were going to have a RC2, I left this one as SNAPSHOT.
Anyway, we should review the RC1 and report any issues we find.

[jira] Resolved: (TUSCANY-2128) Store sample should include fixes and improvements from the store tutorial

2008-03-24 Thread Jean-Sebastien Delfino (JIRA)

 [
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TUSCANY-2128?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:all-tabpanel
 ]

Jean-Sebastien Delfino resolved TUSCANY-2128.
-

Resolution: Fixed

Fixed in trunk in SVN r640331 and the 1.2 branch in SVN r640337.

 Store sample should include fixes and improvements from the store tutorial
 --

 Key: TUSCANY-2128
 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TUSCANY-2128
 Project: Tuscany
  Issue Type: Bug
  Components: Java SCA Samples
Affects Versions: Java-SCA-1.2
Reporter: Jean-Sebastien Delfino
Assignee: Jean-Sebastien Delfino
 Fix For: Java-SCA-1.2

 The store sample should be brought in line with the bigger store from the
 tutorial, as a number of improvements have gone into the tutorial version of
 the store, including:
 - client HTML + javascript fixes
 - using the simpler data collection interface instead of an Abdera feed
 - using beans instead of strings to represent items in the store

2008-03-24 Thread Jean-Sebastien Delfino (JIRA)

Jean-Sebastien Delfino resolved TUSCANY-2024.
-

Resolution: Fixed

This is now resolved in 1.2.

 Missing maven-incremental-build source files in release source distro
 -

 Key: TUSCANY-2024
 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TUSCANY-2024
 Project: Tuscany
  Issue Type: Bug
  Components: Build System
Affects Versions: Java-SCA-1.1
Reporter: Jean-Sebastien Delfino
Priority: Minor
 Fix For: Java-SCA-1.2

 Reported on tuscany-dev in http://marc.info/?l=tuscany-devm=120170144819429
 The maven-incremental-build source files are missing from the source distro.
 This does not break the build and is a minor issue as that
 maven-incremental-build plugin is only used by some of us to run incremental
 builds of the Tuscany tree at development time.

I don't know if this is causing the problem but one thing is that the
service element should not use the promote attribute when inside a
component element. Could you remove that and see what happens?

SDO 1.1 RC3

2008-03-24 Thread ant elder
There is an RC3 for the SDO 1.1 release available at
http://people.apache.org/~antelder/tuscany/sdo/1.1-rc3/.

This RC addresses the issues raised against the RC2 release, I'll start
votes on this shortly but in the meantime any reviews to sanity check the
artifacts would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Sebb, any chance you could take a look to see if this resolves the things
you brought up on the RC2 release?

When the StandardContext catches errors like this there will be additional
messages about the problem written to the logs in the Tomcat log directory,
could you check in there to see what the errors are?

Probably depends what you want, with -fn the tests still run with
-Dmaven.test.skip=true they don't. Not running the tests makes the build
much faster but without running the tests you don't know what problems there
might be with the jars that get built. A key thing is that with -fn a test
failure in one module does not stop the build of other modules, but, the jar
for the module with the test failure does not get built so if you want to
ignore a test failure but still rebuild a module then you need to use
-Dmaven.test.skip=true. On the other hand for things like the itest modules
you just want to see the tests results so it doesn't make much sense to use
-Dmaven.test.skip=true but -fn can be useful to see how good or bad the
state of the code is.

That's more I could dream of! I have never used -fn before so it's
nice to have read so comprehensive explanation why it might be useful.
Thanks.

Tuscany Coding Standards/Style Guides

2008-03-24 Thread Dan Becker
Many Apache projects have official or recommended coding standards or
style guides (e.g. Geronimo at
http://geronimo.apache.org/coding-standards.html). Others have code
formatting and style templates that you can import into Eclipse (e.g.
http://cwiki.apache.org/GMOxDEV/developing-geronimo-in-eclipse.html#DevelopingGeronimoinEclipse-CodeFormatting).

Does Tuscany have an office code style formatter or template for
Eclipse? If so, can someone point me to the docs? If not, can someone
export and post their Eclipse formatters?

Re: tuscany-corba-binding :: What`s about details?

2008-03-24 Thread Raymond Feng

Hi,

The idea is to develop a CORBA binding extension for Tuscany/SCA so that we
can:

1) Invoke existing CORBA services using SCA reference binding
2) Expose SCA component services to be CORBA services using SCA service
binding
3) Support CORBA IDL as an interface definition language to define
interfaces for component services/references.

You can find the SCA specification at www.osoa.org. For more details about
Tuscany, see
http://incubator.apache.org/tuscany/java-sca-documentation-menu.html.

We have some seed code in Tuscany and Axis2 we can reuse. I'll give more
details later.

Thanks,
Raymond

Sorry if I made a mistake, but just first time use maillist, so i hope
somebody will see my message. I`m interested in project that mentioned
http://wiki.apache.org/general/SummerOfCode2008 connected with CORBA. I

 Does Tuscany have an office code style formatter or template for

Re: Why there are two different ways for tuscany generating WSDL from java (java2wsdl)

2008-03-24 Thread Scott Kurz
One difference between CXF J2W and Axis2 J2W appears to be that CXF follows
the JAXWS spec with respect
to the fault--exception mapping whereas Axis2 invents a new convention.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think the Tuscany runtime supports the
Axis2 pattern, right?

This would imply some new work I believe... whereas support for the JAX-WS
spec'd pattern is implemented in class
JAXWSFaultExceptionMapper.

 Hi, simon

 Axis2's JAVA2WSDL can handle the JAX-WS annnotations by default.
 Since it's
 org.apache.axis2.description.java2wsdl.DefaultSchemaGeneratorcontains
 following lines:
  JAnnotation annotation = jclass.getAnnotation(
 AnnotationConstants.WEB_SERVICE);
if (annotation != null) {
String tns =
annotation.getValue(
 AnnotationConstants.TARGETNAMESPACE).asString();
if (tns != null  !.equals(tns)) {
targetNamespace = tns;
schemaTargetNameSpace = tns;
}
}

  JAnnotation methodAnnon = jMethod.getAnnotation(
 AnnotationConstants.WEB_METHOD);
if (methodAnnon != null) {
if
 (methodAnnon.getValue(AnnotationConstants.EXCLUDE).asBoolean())
 {
continue;
}
}
 if use the -sg optional to replace the DefaultSchemaGenerator with
 org.apache.axis2.jaxbri.JaxbSchemaGenerator
 then it can handle the JAXB annotations.(actually it can handle JAX-WS and
 JAXB both, since JaxbSchemaGenerator extends DefaultSchemaGenerator )

 I will look into CXF in the furture, and find out what's differrent
 between
 them, if you alreadly know it, i would like to hear your comments.

   I think the runtime code basically relies on Axis2's Java-XSD

   fully honor JAXB annotations in the Java as it ideally would (though
 it

   CXF.)

  Can you say more about what Axis2 configuration is needed? Does this
 only
  handle JAXB annotations or does it handle JAX-WS annnotations as well?
  My primary use case that led me to look at using CXF was handling JAX-WS
  annotations in service interfaces (which may also require handling JAXB
  annotations in data types passed over the interface).

   I didn't follow all of the discussion about removing SDO from the
  Tuscany
   charter... but if SDO is no
   longer a special part of the Tuscany project then what would happen to
  the
   W2J/J2W tools built around
   SDO support?

  If some other project were to produce suitable SDO tools, then Tuscany
  could
  delegate to those tools instead of having its own. Until this happens,
  I'd
  expect the current tools to remain in Tuscany.

   Hi Alex

   I don't think there is a good reason for the two approaches to WSDL
   generation. It's probably just historical. I agree that it would be
  much
   cleaner and more maintainable to have one set of code for doing this.
 I
   saw

The domain admin should mark all composites as deployables in contributions

Currently the app developer is forced to write an sca-contribution.xml file to
mark his composites deployables. That file is actually optional so that's a
serious limitation.
