I guess noting that he starred in a successful USA series like The Dead Zone for six seasons here in the 21st century might not have painted him as sufficiently marginal a figure to make the tore up a plant, yelled at a neighbor story worthwhile. Of all the homey, families ties on that show, the only one that I ever thought really worked for them was Uncle Frank; their connection showed all the way through.
