naw, i *think* he's talking about mangled shortened URLs. i had to make my thingy adapt to these, because I noticed stuff like http://example.com/R5dEI want to show you this link ie, something drops the newline and mashes the Url together. or something like that. It's an easy cake fix on the shortened-url server end of things. And I don't think it's a twitter thingy, it's probably one of those link invader sites.
