[TYPO3-english] Access control via the TS template

2010-11-01 Thread Graham Knight
Hi,

I have a sub-tree of pages which should be accessible only to members of a
particular FE group. I can achieve this by placing the standard login form at
the root of the sub-tree and applying the appropriate access controls to the
root page and all its sub-pages. The problem with this solution is that a user
attempting to access a page in the sub-tree gets a "page not found" error
rather than a prompt to log in.

One solution to this that I have seen is to avoid the use of the normal page
access controls and, instead, do everything in the template. Essentially the
template has a conditional expression which tests whether the user is logged in
to the correct FE group. If yes, the page is displayed. If no, a login form is
displayed.

This solution seems to me to work fine. My question is whether it is less
secure than using the normal page access controls?

[TYPO3-english] How can I get a visible Redirect for a Shortcut?

2010-11-01 Thread Jrg Klein
Hi guys,

I use RealURL to produce speaking URLs. This works fine, but I have an issue
with shortcuts:

I have a page which is a shortcut to another page, e.g.
folder --> Shortcut to folder/file.html

When a visitor requests "folder", he gets the page from the shortcut target,
but the URL still stays the same. I want to have the new URL there.

How can I get a redirect, which shows the new URL in the address bar of the
browser?

Cheers

[TYPO3-english] R: Re: menu with sectionInd ex=1 and Templavoilà

2010-11-01 Thread De Contardi Riccardo
Thank you for your answer.

I also noticed that the last version of TV (1.5.x) is maybe bugged when
creating a sitemap element with type "Section index (pagecontent w/Index
checked)" : these are my steps:

1- I created a content element in a page (UID=20), type: "sitemap", subtype
"Section index (pagecontent w/Index checked)"
2- selected another page for starting point (UID=25) that contains some content
elements with headlines. Saved everything
3- in web>page module the sitemap element doesn't show the starting point
4- in FE, no menu is created
5-if I select as starting point the same page which contains the sitemap
element (UID=20), the menu is created, but contains every element of the page
but the sitemap element itself.

I 've got a little suggestion... why don't replace "unlink element" with
"delete element"? The last versions of Typo3 have the recycle bin, so the there
is no much difference.

thanks again and best regards

Riccardo

Section menus don't work properly with TemplaVoila. You will also
encounter problems with references and sometimes also with the various
content areas, if they are not mapped properly to traditional page columns.

I have worked on this issue and came up with a library to be released in
an extension. The extension is not published yet, but you can get from
Forge:

http://forge.typo3.org/projects/show/extension-getflexformvalue

It already has a manual so you should be able to work things out.

There are indeed discussions about this in the TV list
(typo3.projects.templavoila). Actually according to one of the bug
reports, TV contains a library to display a section menu, but it is not
documented in the manual. See: http://bugs.typo3.org/view.php?id=15859

That's weird...

Try using my library, as mentioned in my first answer, but there may be

[TYPO3-english] Indexed search not indexing

2010-11-01 Thread Nick Weisser

Hi there,

My pages are not being indexed although I made sure that

config.index_enable = 1

and

as well as

are in the template.

It's a separate page root within a multi-domain TYPO3 install, so I also
made sure that

plugin.tx_indexedsearch.search.rootPidList = 317

which corresponds to that sub domain's root PID. Domain records are
properly set up and the page itself is working properly, too.

I'm not using RealURL and the contents of the pages are cached by default.

Any ideas what I might be missing here?

I guess it's about the difference between "wrapping" the whole CONTENT output
with the 5 and 20 parts and really wrapping a single content element.

Since the setup of these elements is done withing the tt_content CASE element,
I guess it could help to take a look at its code.

The problem was, that I did not know, what I was looking for.
Now that I found it - its all easy :)

I did not get rid about "renderObj" - there's nearly no description in TSRef
and I got the importance of that item accidentially reading about a totally
different issue.

Anyway - meanwhile I learned to use the object-browser and debug:data so I got
a big step further.

What I did not found out yet:
- how can I fetch content-items without caring about start- / endtime like the
backend uses on preview pages - or more precises: I have content items in a
sysfolder and several pages that use this folder. So most pages should respect
start- / endtime, but others should not.

If anybody could shine me a light on that item, I would appreciate it a lot.

Out of the box you can just get the items with appropriate start-/endtime
settings, since both fields belong to the so called "enable fields".

So if you want to add start-/endtime for some of the visitors only, you should
go for the "Insert Records" element.
You can refer to another content element within this element and provide the
time settings for the "Insert Record" element itself, while leaving the
original element "clean".

Hi,

Yes, I know.

My question is: is it possible to NOT use the enable fields for certain FE-page
like the backend does.

> So if you want to add start-/endtime for some of the visitors only, you
> should go for the "Insert Records" element.

Sorry, but I don't understand, what "insert records" means.

The dates (I need 2 like in enable fields) should be shown to the visitors, but
they should be used in queries too, like the enable fields for certain pages.

Or said it in other words: the use of the date-fields in the query as
enablefields should depend on the page, that queries the items.

> You can refer to another content element within this element and provide the
> time settings for the "Insert Record" element itself, while leaving the

I see - I should use different fields with same semantic.

... but how can I implement that in TS?

The backend-form for content-items does not contain fields, I could missuse and
I'm not very happy with telling the editors that they should not use the
datefields, but use other fields as date fields.

You said, that it is not possible "out of the box".
What do I have do patch to make this happen?

These fields are NOT date fields but responsible for "release time" and
"expiration time", so what is it, that your editors don't understand about this
fact?

> You said, that it is not possible "out of the box".
> What do I have do patch to make this happen?

You should never patch anything that is provided by the core or a third party
extension.
Actually there already is a date field used for the header date - so maybe you
can use that one and put it somewhere else in the frontend via TS.
Otherwise you have to make your own extension that provides date fields other
than the fields provided by the core.

Why on earth would you start the entire TYPO3 just to do a redirect??
What's next? An extension to serve small static GIF files?

It's more a sysadmin thing, but I think that something like mod_alias

Re: [TYPO3-english] redirect extension?

2010-11-01 Thread Douglas La Farge
I get where you are coming from. However, here's the problem. This is no
longer a sysadmin job. The client, which we (the sysadmins) are turning of
duties to, is not allowed sysadmin tasks. They are not allowed to edit
.htaccess, they do no have SSH access, they cannot edit httpd.conf or restart
apache.

So how do we allow our client to make up urls and then have them redirect to an
existing (typo3) page?

real example:

http://www.controleng.com/advertise

which is a URL (that currently 404's) they put in their Media Kit needs to
redirect to:

http://www.controleng.com/about-us/advertise

It's more important for us to give our client the tool they need to do this on
their own than it is to worry about bouncing a redirect off of typo3. of course
if there is a way to give the client a tool to do this that doesn't involved
firing up typo3 we're all for using it. Though the client is probably
expecting access to said tool via typo3.

I'm am glad you brought up the GIF though. that was the next task ;-)

best regards,
doug

PS:

inmon_redirect no docs, not clear on how it works.
fb_old2new_redirect - followed directions, doesn't seem to work (lays on the
couch all day eating potato chips)
ods_redirects - also doesn't work (but at the very least went out and got on
unemployment insurance)

We do use CoolURI. we find though on occasion we need to delete the alias

That would create a management headache (or make the client not happy when we

I'll play around with it though. thanks for the reminder.

Re: [TYPO3-english] redirect extension?

2010-11-01 Thread Andreas Kiessling

Hi,

some weeks ago, i thought about using RewriteMap for a task like that
http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/mod/mod_rewrite.html#rewritemap

Idea: hook into the saving process of an extension table and create the
mapping file. Apache even caches the file until it is modified.

The tricky part would just be, that you need a cObject
(frontend-context/TSFE) to build "real" urls, that respect linkvars etc,
but the "regular" redirecting should not be that hard.

If it works, it should be just as fast as putting the redirect to .htaccess

[TYPO3-english] Typo3 4.4.2 Clean URLs Problem

2010-11-01 Thread James Carpenter
Hi Everyone,

I’ve been a site admin on an older version of typo3 for a little while now,
but have only just set up a new server with the most recent install on it.
The install process was no problem, but once the site is installed (i used
the introduction pack for simplicity's sake) I cannot visit any of the menu
items..

To explain in more detail: I can get at the front page, and also at the
backend (domain.com/typo3) but all of the links (e.g.domain.com/features/)
are broken.

Now I'm thinking that this is to do with re-writes, but the .htaccess file
is where it should be and re-writes are enabled in PHP/apache So I'm not
really sure where to go from here.

A little about my setup: CentOS 5.5 VPS slice running apache 2.2.3, PHP
5.2.14, mySQL 5.0.77, all freshly installed

I'd be grateful to anyone who could shed a little light on this for me.

Thanks in advance,

I think I have seen such a error myself.
There is a patch I think in bugtrack that you can apply,
then it worked for me for basic function.

A other option is to install TYPO3 4.2 (if my memory serves correctly)
Create the extension in 4.2 and then move it to your 4.4 installation.

off that

errors.

So how can I proceed - or what is the right way to start with a new
extension?

kind regards

Santiago,

I think I have seen such a error myself.
There is a patch I think in bugtrack that you can apply,
then it worked for me for basic function.

A other option is to install TYPO3 4.2 (if my memory serves correctly)
Create the extension in 4.2 and then move it to your 4.4 installation.

That's a working solution!

Patching the code like recommended from bugtracker results in really strange
create statements like this:

CREATE TABLE tx_tptest_base (
uid int(11) NOT NULL auto_increment,
pid int(11) NOT NULL default '0',
tstamp int(11) NOT NULL default '0',
crdate int(11) NOT NULL default '0',
cruser_id int(11) NOT NULL default '0',
sys_language_uid int(11) NOT NULL default '0',
l10n_parent int(11) NOT NULL default '0',
l10n_diffsource mediumtext,
sorting int(10) NOT NULL default '0',
deleted tinyint(4) NOT NULL default '0',
hidden tinyint(4) NOT NULL default '0',
starttime int(11) NOT NULL default '0',
endtime int(11) NOT NULL default '0',
fe_group int(11) NOT NULL default '0',
8950d42eaa text,
e653ec7d1d int(11) NOT NULL default '0',
ac96ee83af text,
c988bfff83 text,
55503e9824 text,
PRIMARY KEY (uid),
KEY parent (pid)
);

wich of cause will fail.

Aparently the ereg_replace and preg_replace work quite different.
Another "deprecation"-crash of the kickstarter is:
"Function split() is deprecated in
ext/kickstarter/class.tx_kickstarter_sectionbase.php line 474"

So changing the configuration results in valid table creation statements and
for so a base to start with.

kind regards

Did you try the development version of this extension? It should work:

http://forge.typo3.org/projects/extension-kickstarter/repository

You can get it with a subversion client such as TortoiseSVN if you use
Windows or from command line in Linux and/or Mac OS X (with package
"subversion" of your corresponding distribution of course).

Just do a checkout from:

https://svn.typo3.org/TYPO3v4/Extensions/kickstarter/trunk

E.g.:

$ cd /path/to/typo3conf/ext/
$ svn co https://svn.typo3.org/TYPO3v4/Extensions/kickstarter/trunk
kickstarter

[TYPO3-english] CoolURI + Macina Banners

2010-11-01 Thread Guus Leeuw Jr
Hello,

I'm trying to integrate Macina Banners with CoolURI. Shouldn't be too
difficult, as macinabanners works on the basis of a URL parameter called
tx_macinabanners_pi1[banneruid].

So I made an image banner with a link to page id 61
(/solutions/24x7-monitoring). This banner has uid=2.

Converting that is easy:

 tx_macinabanners_pi1[banneruid]

SELECT title FROM pages where uid in (SELECT url FROM
tx_macinabanners_banners WHERE uid=$1)
  1

The problem with this is that the title is then taken as full CoolURI URI:
http://www.mydomain.com/24x7-monitoring where as it should have been
http://.mydomain.com/solutions/24x7-monitoring.

If I simply

 tx_macinabanners_pi1[banneruid]

SELECT url FROM tx_macinabanners_banners WHERE uid=$1
  1

the generated URL looks like:
http://www.mydomain.com/61/solutions/24x7-monitoring

So, I'm kinda at a loss as to what to look up. The page id by itself doesn't
help, and I can't quite figure out how to query the link_cache table based
on the parameter. Maybe there is a way to call a function that will get me
the full page path within my domain, which then would be sensible enough for
CoolURI to map back to a page.

Hmm... An Idea: Apparently, if I look up the url in
tx_macinabanners_banners, the generated URL becomes
/61/solutions/24x7-monitoring. What if I just simply make the whole
parameter disappear, much like cHash, would that help? Let's see... No,
doesn't help either. The generated link is then
/2/solutions/24x7-monitoring...

Anybody any idea as to what I should be generating in CoolUriConf.xml so as
to make the correct path (/solutions/24x7-monitoring) appear?

Regards,
Guus
