[U2] UniData 7.1 and ODBC
I'm having some basic trouble getting ODBC setup with Unidata. In Developing UniData ODBC Applications under Before You Begin it says: * Make sure the files you want to access in UniData are ODBC/SQL accesible. See Using VSG and the Schema API Yet in Using VSG and the Schema API under Before You Begin it says: * Setup your ODBC server and database information so that the files are accesible to VSG. Here's what I tried and isn't working too well. I edited uci.config file and added the entry testr18 DBMSTYPE = UNIDATA network = TCP/IP service = udserver host = quicksilver.hampshire.edu account = /datatel/coll18/test/apphome When I attempt to run VSG, I see my testr18 definition in the server drop-down, and then enter: Database Name: testr18 User: my_username Password: my_password and get: Died in UCI::SQLConnect() with SQLSTATE 08001, Native error: 0 [IBM][SQL Client][UNIDATA] Database testr18 doesn't exist. Any pointers appreciated. -- Jeff Butera, Ph.D. Administrative Systems Hampshire College [EMAIL PROTECTED] 413-559-5556 Daddy - did you lose your mind? [U2] How do you call a Unidata Stored Procedure via ODBC?
I am using SQL Server 2005 and have setup a linked server using UniData ODBC, Version 3.1.6; Everything works well. Has anyone sucessfully defined a stored procedure via VSG and call it from ODBC? Can it be called via SS2005 using the command EXEC ('CALL VSG_DEFINED_PROCEDURE(PARAM1,PARAM2)') AT UNIDATA_LINKED_SERVER Thanks for your help in advance, Noah Hart CONFIDENTIALITY NOTICE: This message may contain confidential and/or privileged information. [U2] Credit Card Processing
Hi all, Does anyone have any good recommendations for credit card processing companies? Currently our company does not accept credit cards but will be doing so in the near future as we open a new store front. It would be nice to come up with a solution that I could easily interface to our Universe 10.1 business application. RE: [U2] Credit Card Processing
Scott, We use Chase Paymentech to process our CC transactions. They are pretty decent to deal with. They are pretty big so having a good acct manager to get what you need makes all the difference. They handle all card brands and multiple currencies (if connecting your web portal). Just a thought as you approach your implementation: You bring a whole new world of data security requirements to bear on your business app if you bring credit card data directly into it. It's a beautiful thing to wed a CC interface right to your application, and we have the upper hand in the MV world, but the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard is a nasty document that will cost your organization quite a bit to comply, and you get zero ROI (IMHO), except perhaps some clout for your company brand as being PCI compliant. I doubt your store front customers, in a brick and mortar setting, are going to be impressed that your business app is PCI compliant. You might be best served by looking for a POS credit card app on a stand-alone server, that is the system of record for all CC transactions/data and does your data at rest encryption. Then just communicate with that server from UV about whether the CC Auth went through, was deposited, etc. HTH, -Baker -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, August 06, 2007 2:42 PM To: u2-Users Subject: [U2] Credit Card Processing Hi all, Does anyone have any good recommendations for credit card processing companies? RE: [U2] Credit Card Processing
A word of warning, though it may not be a show-stopper. We called Total Computing Solutions lat year with a request to integrate their CC solution into our MV application. After reading their glossy advertisement, we felt it might be the cat's meow. We placed a call to sales. They called back and we talked, then we called and asked and they told us a price and we asked them to come see our situation and propose an implementation schedule and they never called back. We are working on another solution. During this process, they offered me a job, too, for 20K less than I was making at that time, and I make less than the market around here (there's more to a job than the money). RE: [U2] Credit Card Processing
PCI compliance is the bugger here. If your company doesn't have the resources (money) to become compliant you won't get your credit cards processed. The best bet for a company that doesn't have the resources is to send the cards through one of the available credit card processing companies that have become compliant or soon to be compliant. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, August 06, 2007 2:42 PM To: u2-Users Subject: [U2] Credit Card Processing Hi all, Does anyone have any good recommendations for credit card processing companies? [U2] [UD] Expresion stack underflow
What causes an Expresion stack underflow? (Error #40198) A couple of our developers here are getting this message: In programname at line Expresion stack underflow. I have unconfirmed reports that it happens occasionally when the main program or subroutine is recompiled with minor changes while in use, and the user is at an INPUT prompt in a lower subroutine. I'm not convinced because A) it doesn't happen all the time, and B) a change to the object should not effect a program already in memory. There are no references to that message in the UniData docs, nor any relevant information in the knowledge base. Version 6.1.18 on HP-UX. We did that as well on our own. It was pretty trivial to implement. If you're comfortable writing the code on the UV side to assemble and parse some XML, that's pretty much all the expertise required. PayPal (formerly Verisign) supplies you with an OS-level executable that passes the data back and forth to their server. You just have to feed it the XML data via a BASIC EXECUTE, then capture the output. -John --- u2-users mailing list u2-users@listserver.u2ug.org To unsubscribe please visit http://listserver.u2ug.org/
