RE: [U2] AE editor replacement [AD]

2008-02-28 Thread Brian Leach
Okay, so while we're on the subject, I've just posted an update to my free
mvDeveloper windows based editor. This can call handler subroutines on save,
build etc to keep a version track.

You can download this from www.brianleach.co.uk

I wish everyone who had a U2 product would put an ad here.

How else is anybody to know what is available?

 IBM UniVerse.)

[U2] Position Wanted - South Florida, USA

2008-02-28 Thread U2-Users
The company I worked, Tandem Staffing Solutions for was acquired and
dissolved as of the end of 2007. I started in accounting and after 5 years
switched into the IT side. For the next 12 years, I have worked with
Unidata and SBClient as the development platform. I helped develop and
maintain inhouse applications, Masterpack, and HRPyramid (formerly SCORPEO
from FW Davison). I worked my way up from a juinior programmer to ,at the
end, CIO for a brief time. My heart, however, lies in the programming and
development spectrum.

I have worked on projects that included:
- Check Printing (PCL)
- ACH and Bank Electronic transfers
- Payroll Tax and Treasury
- Operations Reporting
- FTP and PGP interfaces integrating via PERL
- Excel Spreadsheet Creation (via PERL)
- Executive Reporting
- Various staffing applications including an internally developed
application
- Microsoft ASP integration with IBM Redback (now WDE).

I am currently looking for a position as a senior programmer, application
development manager, or any like position in the South Florida area.
Specifically in Broward County, Dade County, or West Palm beach.

If interested please email me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] to
receive my resume or possible discussion the possible opportunities within
your company. Contract positions will be considered, although a permanent
full time position is desired.

Regards,

Don Verhagen

[U2] Question about the U2 News Flash...

2008-02-28 Thread David Wolverton
I just got the February News Flash, and am confused about some offerings -
perhaps someone can help:

1) U2.NET Beta available and
2) developerWorks article on U2 and IBM Data Server Provider for .NET

So... These two items are both to get .NET code working, but each uses a
different process to do it? Is the U2.NET going to 'obsolete' the logic and
ideas presented in the IBM DSP article?

Seems like IBM is pushing full steam ahead on .NET -- the new SB+/XA
included... The question is how do I/we know which 'avenue' to follow?

What is the general take? U2.NET worth holding out for compared to using
the ServiceProvider? I've only started playing with this functionality to
know what options are there - is U2.NET going to make things easier and
worth waiting on?

RE: [U2] AE editor replacement [AD]

2008-02-28 Thread Brian Leach
Hi Dennis

1. Go into tools|settings and check the paths are correctly pointing to the
syntax files.

2. In the same place, check that you have set a default language: that will
match the platform you use most commonly. In my case, UniVerse BASIC.

3. mvDeveloper will then use that language definition throughout unless you
override it for a specific editor window: so you could have Unidata basic in
one tab, UniVerse PROC in another etc. The language definition determines
the syntax highlighting, build commands, and some navigation stuff like
jumping to labels, loading include files and commenting in/out code.

Regards

Brian
