Did you try "fnuxi -o" and then (maybe) "fnuxi -6" while pushing?

Have you tried to copy on both boxes (push from box 1 to box 2, or pull
from box 2 against box1)?

When I try to copy data from UniVerse v10.1 (HP-Ux 11i v2, Integrity
rx2600)
to UniVerse v8.8.3 (HP-Ux v10, HP-9000 E45) the following error
results...

Program "PART.MGR.R79": Line 105, Cannot open file "IPL": file
revision
level from
subsequent release. Use fnuxi command to regress file to the current
revision level.

After taking a stab at using fnuxi, the same error messages result.

Are these versions of UniVerse backward-compatible? Is there a way to
copy
from new to old UniVerse and have programs work?

Suggestions would be appreciated.

Ah, the danger of working from memory. I just checked and on my notebook I
have release 3.5.4 of the Uni Developer Kit (rel Oct 2007) and it is still
called asjava.zip. The readme for unidk says it contains UOJ release 3.1.3.
I installed this from the clients cd that came with Unidata 7.1.

Now I'm puzzled as I thought tomcat from about release 4 onwards would only
load *.jar files and ignore *.zip files - I will need to re-test that but if
this is the case you can just rename it.

I presume you could get the latest from downloading a personal edition but
if you installed the unidk on your pc from the ud7.1 media you should be
pretty up to date. I'm just checking the ibm site to see if they do unidk
or uoj as a standalone download but I'm not making much progress.

Wintegrate to open an existing Excel document, make some changes, save
the document then close it. I know that Wintegrate has DDE, but we'd
like to steer away from that as DDE is due to disappear sometime in the

WIN.OB... calls and the WIN.OBDEMO program, but I'm still confused as to
what calls to use and when.

Re: [U2] Compile overwrite

It looks like the program was previously compiled by somebody else, who
became the owner of the object file. While you have permission to write
to the directory, allowing you to add or delete files, you're about to
delete a file that's owned by somebody else, and it's confirming that's
what you want to do. To avoid this, you could have your login ID added to
the same group as the primary group other person, so you could both
compile programs without getting the error.

Charles,

>From memory, all you need is the asjava.jar file (the "as" bit is a hangover
from that company formed before informix - can't remember the name -
ascentia maybe?). As long as this file is in your classpath you should be
fine. If you are writing for Tomcat, just dump it into
$CATALINA_HOME/webapps/mybrilliantwebapp/WEB-INF/lib I think and restart
your webapp. You can put it in the tomcat common/lib directory (going from
memory here) but it is normally better to use the lib directory specific to
your webapp and use the tomcat manager or the tomcat ant task to deploy your
app or just drop the war file into $CATALINA_HOME/webapps and restart
tomcat.

If your app is working on your windows desktop, you must have that jar file
there - just find it and copy it up - there isn't any operating system
specific business with a jar file. Some old versions of UOJ shipped with
the file called asjava.zip. I would be surprised if this is what you have
but if so, just rename it asjava.jar. The jar format is just a zip file
with a specific structure.

HTH
