In the uk i use www.textanywhere.co.uk for a few applications - it works very well - You don't say what country you are in (hence i presume the USA ;) but i assume there are similar companies there.
It is a simple http web service that just uses a get so is s simple as formulating a url and so can be done using the callhttp api or using something like wget or curl.
