[U2] [uv] 10.1

2007-03-18 Thread Haas, John
Is there a way to automate a full database backup. I have a backup that uses
the following command to capture all of the data. I am looking for something
similar for the database account. I would like to be able to schedule the
backup instead of having to run it from UniAdmin.

Thanks,

John.

Nope. The name in UV.LOGINS and AD match.

Hi John

Check the case (upper/lower/mixed) of the user's name in Active Directory - If
the case there doesn't not match the case in UV.LOGINS, you get this problem.

For example: In Active Directory username = ArnoldB. In UV.LOGINS, username =
arnoldb causes this.

I learnt this the hard way when we migrated from Unix to Windows a couple of
years ago; now I set up usernames in lowercase as a rule.

I am using the Windows Universe platform version 10.1.18.

I have a user that receives the message indicating that she is restricted from
logging into the account, and the telnet session closes.

Other users login without any problem. There is an entry in UV.LOGINS,
the
domain is set correctly and the path to the account is set correctly. I have
the user policy set to 'home directory' and the full path D:\dir\uvaccount set
for the users. There is no local login.

Are there any permissions that need to be set on the Windows directory?

Any thoughts on what I missed in the set-up of this user.

Thanks.

I have found that the easiest way is to do a UVBackup to a file, copy it to the
new server with ftp or better yet if you can mount the file system do a cp or
copy, then UVRestore the file. The restore does the conversion so fnuxi is not
necessary.

Does anyone have any advice on the easiest route to copy files from Universe
9.6.1 (HP-UX) to Universe 10 on Windows 2000.

1. T-Dump/T-Load

2. FTP and fnuxi

3. Uvbackup/uvrestore

4. or any other options.

Thanks,

John.

Is there a way to print PDF files from AIX using a command from UniData?

One of our vendors has provided a PDF file that they want us to include with
shipments of their product. It would be nice if I could have my existing
process determine that a qualifying product is being shipped, and automatically
print a copy of the PDF, rather than having to keep a stack on hand. Our
shipping departments use terminals, and personnel do not always have PC access.

I know Adobe has Acrobat Reader for Unix. I've downloaded it from their
website, but have not installed it since I don't have a graphic/wysiwyg
terminal connected to our AIX box. Does anyone know of an AIX command line or
script that would let me specify the PDF file & printer and have Acrobat (or
some other program) print it correctly?

Thanks.

Crude, but works everywhere if you want X and Y to always be treated
