SV: [U2] Unidata 300 users - best plateform ?
Hi Manu, I'll guess that you are close to the limit of what a Windows server can handle. If you expect growth I would go for Solaris or AIX since it's much more scalable than a Windows server is. Linux could also be an alternative. Windows and Linux for servers with 1-4 CPU's works fine, if you think you'll need more power it's the Unix path you should choose. /Bjorn -Ursprungligt meddelande- Fren: Manu Fernandes [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Skickat: den 22 december 2005 10:32 Till: u2-users@listserver.u2ug.org Dmne: [U2] Unidata 300 users - best plateform ? Dear all, I'm calling your experiences. "What can be the best hardware/OS to run Unidata for 300 users Enterprise Edition." The application is a Industrial Production Management package used on telnet protocol. I'll appreciate any comment. SV: [U2] SOX question (United States only, I believe)
Charlie, we get the same questions here in sweden, we don't have any good answer to that eitherThe auditors here are upset about that our programmers put new code in the production environment for example. For me, the Unidebugger doesent work. I don't know what I'am doing wrong. All my collegues have the same problem, open files works fine but when starting the debugger, sometimes, it just hangs, showing the following: :SETDEBUGLINE "/dev/pts/7" :DEBUGLINE.ATT :RUN IB.MAIN BED.ACNTEST -D -E When looking in the dual session the debugger is running(I have a "!" propmt). Perhaps it has something to do with different java versions, terminal types? Any help would be nice. We are on Solaris 8, unidata 6.1 and the unidebugger client is running on windows 2000. SV: [U2] No more cells for GLM segment id
Wally, you are correct, there was 16 global locks present, a restart of unidata helped. Thanks! You can only have 16 GLM segments. As this is a testserver, I suspect someone once wrote a quick program that set and held 10s of thousands of locks. The UniData lock table will grow to accomodate this - but only to 16 segments. You can confirm with: $UDTBIN/ipcstat -mb | grep glm If you really need to set and hold lots of locks, you need to increase udtconfig GLM_MEM_SEGSZ The only way to allow the lock table to shrink back to normal size is to stop and restart the database.
