[U2] java encoding problem

Hi all,

I'm using asjava.jar and I have some problems encoding latin data.
I'm using cp858 charset to encode the data. In Unix all works fine but
in windows not. I'm encoding the String:

C!C)C-C3C:C
C   C
CCC1Cb,

If I encode this string with cp858, all works fine if the java
application is in unix, but if I execute the same code in a Windows I
cannot see the C and b, characters. The Universe server is in a Unix
machine.

Can you help me?

in Unix, PORT.STATUS only show the users with the same name but this is
my requeriment.

 Assuming this is UniVerse on UNIX, you have the PORT.STATUS command in the UV 
 account, and you have ipcs -m | grep aceb at the operating system level.
 
 If it's Windows-based UniVerse you still have PORT.STATUS.  The equivalent of 
 ipcs is shrdump, but you don't have an equivalent for grep.  So you need your 
 own mechanism for parsing out the aceb entries.

[U2] Logged user list

Hi all,

I have some problems getting the users currently logged into the
system. If I launch a LISTU command, in some operating systems I cannot
see the user names, only the ids. There are any way to get the user name
list in TCL, basic or any operating system commnad?

[U2] gtk and intercall

Hi all again,

Thanks all for the responses to my lock record doubt. I have another
problem... I'm developing a linux application with GTK. When i launch
and ic_read with a main program without GTK all works fine but, if i
launch the same code with a GTK GUI, i have problems with the encoding
(gtk returns gtk_utf8_validate error). Using gtk, when i try to split a
record, don't found the separator I_FM... ?Any idea?

I understand the issue, one phantom process only for lock management.
But i don't know how to create and communicate with this phantom
process.

Could you explain a little bit or give me an example or URL?

 Don't have the session lock them. Send the lock requests to a 
 persistant phantom. It can do the locks and unlocks. You'd set it up 
 like this:
 
  File: LOCK.QUEUE
   Program: ACQUIRE.LOCK - which asks the Phantom to lock an item by 
 putting the details in the LOCK.QUEUE file.
   Program: RELEASE.LOCK - which asks the Phantom to unlock an item 
 by putting the details in the LOCK.QUEUE file.
   Program: READ.THROUGH.LOCK - which asks the Phantom to read the 
 locked item by putting the details in the LOCK.QUEUE file.

I want to lock a record from UniObjects in the server until i unlock by
hand. My problem is that when lock a record and close session or app
ends, Universe unlock this record. Do you know if I can do it??
