[U2] Unidata Error

2010-12-22 Thread Paul Parkinson

Hi,
Does anyone know what causes the error "can't get to U_tosbcs". This
has happened a couple of times for me now and each time I have had to
re-install Unidata.

Unidata for Windows version 7.2.5 installed on Windows 2003 server

[U2] Unidata Error?

2005-08-03 Thread William Warfel
Can someone help me, please? I'm unfamiliar with unidata but we have
started seeing an error on the server lately. We are using Unidata 6.0
on Windows and Datatel. When we log into the shel we get the following
error from unidata: U_shmat(), MakeSureOpen() Return Null. Any
thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

File is corrupt - you need to run guide and then use fixfile to resolve.

Problem you may have is that this is possibly not the only file and you
should consider how wide ranging your run of guide should be.

If you haven't used these utilities before check with your support
organisation about some specifics with respect to fixfile operation.

[U2] Unidata error message

2007-05-09 Thread Charlie Rubeor
Is anyone familiar with this error message:

"Warning: Can't find the partition (1074266118) information in shared
memory."

The message appears on the screen, as well as in udt.errlog, whenever a
dynamic file is accessed. If the dynamic file has four parts (dat001,
dat002, ovr002, idx001 for example) the message appears four times. For
example:

:LIST TEST.FILE
Warning: May 9 09:50:10, Can't find the partition (1074266118)
information in shared memory.
Warning: May 9 09:50:10, Can't find the partition (1074266118)
information in shared memory.
Warning: May 9 09:50:10, Can't find the partition (1074266118)
information in shared memory.
Warning: May 9 09:50:10, Can't find the partition (1074266118)
information in shared memory.

The message appears for existing dynamic files. If I create a new dynamic
file, the message does not appear. Also, I have restarted Unidata and
rebooted the server. Didn't help.

We are on Unidata 6, hpux 11

Re: [U2] Unidata error message

2007-05-10 Thread Doug Miller
This error has to do with the filesystem not being mounted while UD
is started and accessing
dynamic files later on that filesystem. Later releases handle this
better but introduce other

problems. IIRC (df timeouts)

So, have all your UniData filesystems mounted prior to starting
UniData or upgrade to a release that has this patched. Get with your
support provider on what release that may be.

2007-05-11 Thread Charlie Rubeor
Many thanks!!

Actually, the filesytems were correctly mounted, but it was the "df
timeouts" that were causing the problem. As soon as I read your email, it
clicked and the fix took five, maybe six seconds to implement.

Again, many thanks!!

[U2] Unidata error for the ages, so to speak.

2013-12-05 Thread Doug Averch
I was playing with EVAL trying to see why it would work in Universe
and not in Unidata. I typed in this sentence in Unidata 7.3.6:

list CRM.CUSTOMERS WITH EVAL "UPCASE(@RECORD<15>)" LIKE "BILL..."

UPCASE(@RECORD<15>)
-^
Virtual Attribute Error: qz1zq syntax error

So what is qz1zq syntax error? Who would of thought this would help a
seasoned professional like myself figure our my syntax error. I guess
I really don't understand this database after many many years...

The correct syntax was :
list CRM.CUSTOMERS WITH EVAL "UPCASE(CONTACT.NAME)" LIKE 'BILL...'

Re: [U2] Unidata error for the ages, so to speak.

2013-12-05 Thread Ed Clark
iirc, you can't use the <> extraction syntax in unidata itypes. Instead of
@RECORD<15> you need to use something like EXTRACT(@RECORD,15). Or use an
attribute name like you did.
Cool error message though. It's a palindrome.

Re: [U2] Unidata error for the ages, so to speak.

2013-12-06 Thread Bill Haskett

Doug:

This is a UniData anomaly. You can't reference fields like
"@RECORD<3>", you have to refer to them like "EXTRACT(@RECORD,3,0,0)".
