It wasn't a subdirectory but rather a record with incorrect permissions.
I wouldn't have found it without you telling me to look for a
subdirectory. Thanks a ton!

I have experienced this in AIX. If there is a sub-directory in ROM.BP
the search would end when it reaches the sub-directory.

SEARCH ROM.BP

ED ROM.BP OEM110

  1806 lines long.
  : L OES210

It seems to be limited to the one program (OEM110) as this program
is never returned in any search results.

Thanks in advance.

never turn up in the results.

I've created/experienced similar problems related to permissions on
individual BP items.

If you type LIST ROM.BP = OEM110] does the item appear?

Original: No control characters. It doesn't matter what I search for,
this program will never turn up in the results.

If you SELECT ROM.BP, does this program get selected? I'd guess
something wrong with the file so the SELECT doesn't get this program.

Yeah, select finds it. I wrote a quick routine that performs a basic index on
the record and I can find anything I search for. This is very strange!

There was a bug logged with IBM concerning SEARCH. I do not have the details
with me now but will dig them up in the morning when I am back at the office
and post them to the group. Your problem sound very similar to the problem
which was logged.
