[UAI] 13th Multidisciplinary Workshop on Advances in Preference Handling (MPREF 2022)
M-PREF13: CALL FOR PAPERS 13th Multidisciplinary Workshop on Advances in Preference Handling July 23 or 24, 2022, Vienna, Austria, in conjunction with IJCAI-ECAI2022 Workshop website: https://sites.google.com/view/m-pref2022/ IMPORTANT DATES * Friday, May 13, 2022: Workshop paper submission deadline. * Monday, June 3, 2022: Notification on workshop paper submissions. * Friday, June 17, 2022: Camera-ready copy due to organizers. * July XX, 2022: M-PREF’12 Workshop. (XX = 23,24 or 25) SUBMISSION Researchers interested in preference handling from AI, OR, CS or other computational fields may submit a paper (7 + 1 pages in PDF, formatted in IJCAI style) via Easy Chair system: Easy Chair : https://www.easychair.org/login.cgi?conf=mpref2022 TOPICS The workshop on Advances in Preference Handling addresses all computational aspects of preference handling. This includes methods for the elicitation, learning, modeling, representation, aggregation, and management of preferences and for reasoning about preferences. The workshop studies the usage of preferences in computational tasks from decision making, database querying, web search, personalized human-computer interaction, personalized recommender systems, e-commerce, multi-agent systems, game theory, social choice, combinatorial optimization, planning and robotics, automated problem solving, perception and natural language understanding and other computational tasks involving choices. The workshop seeks to improve the overall understanding of and best methodologies for preferences in order to realize their benefits in the multiplicity of tasks for which they are used. Another important goal is to provide cross-fertilization between the numerous sub-fields that work with preferences. Preference handling in artificial intelligence Preference handling in database systems Preference handling in multiagent/multicriteria systems Preference aggregation Reasoning with preferences Explaining preferences Applications of preferences Preference elicitation, statistical learning of preferences Preference representation and modeling Properties and semantics of preferences Uncertainty in preferences Practical preferences WORKSHOP CHAIRS Meltem Ozturk, LAMSADE, PSL-Université Paris Dauphine Christophe Labreuche, Thales Paolo Viappiani, LAMSADE, PSL-Université Paris Dauphine Sébastien Destercke, Heudiasyc, Université de Technologie de Compiègne -- * Paolo Viappiani, PhD, CNRS researcher * * Paolo Viappiani, PhD, CNRS researcher * ___ uai mailing list uai@engr.orst.edu https://it.engineering.oregonstate.edu/mailman/listinfo/uai
[UAI] PostDoc position (12 months) at LIP6-UPMC on Preference Elicitation
-- PostDoc position (12 months) at LIP6-UPMC on Preference Elicitation -- In the framework of a multi-partner project financed by the PRES Sorbonne Universités (consortium of French universities) a postdoctoral position is open for a period of 1 year at the LIP6 laboratory of computer science of the University Pierre and Marie Curie (UPMC) on the topics of decision aid and preference elicitation (starting date negotiable, from September 2014 or later). LIP6 is a joint laboratory of UPMC and the French National Centre of Scientific Research (CNRS), located in the centre of Paris. The postdoc will be affiliated with the "Decision" research team, working with several faculty members involved in the project and in close contact with our partners at the faculty of Decision Sciences at INSEAD. The team "Decision" of the Département <> (DESIR; http://www.lip6.fr/recherche/team.php?id=300&LANG=en) deals with decision-making and multicriteria optimization, decision-making under uncertainty and risk, decision-aiding systems, algorithmic decision theory (permanent members implicated in the project: Christophe Gonzales, Patrice Perny, Paolo Viappiani, Paul Weng). The faculty of Decision Sciences at INSEAD ( http://www.insead.edu/facultyresearch/areas/ds/) deals with decision making under uncertainty, risk management and behavioural decision theory (permanent members implicated in the project: Enrico Diecidue and Spyros Zoumpoulis). The postdoc will contribute to our goal of developing automated tools for decision support. In particular, in this project, we are interested in new algorithmic tools to automate the elicitation of "complex" preference models, as preferences modeled by a Choquet integral, using efficient elicitation strategies aimed at asking as few questions as possible (notably techniques based on minimax regret or expected value of information). We will study how elicitation procedures developed in economics for decision-making under uncertainty could be extended and/or adapted for developing efficient procedures for multiattribute decision-making. We are also interested in the temporal aspect of preferences in decision-making. We will investigate how temporal preferences of human decision-makers can be represented and elicited both in decision-making under uncertainty and multiattribute decision-making. The postdoc will frequently visit our partners at INSEAD in Fontainebleau; it is expected that he will coordinate with a research assistant charged with the deployment and testing of our elicitation strategies with real subjects. Candidates should have background in related disciplines: decision-theoretic artificial intelligence, operation research, decision analysis, or economics. Previous research experience in related subjects should be documented by publications in high level journals or in the proceedings of international peer-reviewed conferences. Good programming skills are also appreciated. The postdoc is funded by the programme Convergence@Sorbonne Universités under the project "Efficient eLIcitation of preferences based on Choquet InTegrals" (ELICIT). Applications should include the following materials: -a motivation letter -a detailed CV with publications -reference letters To apply or in order to obtain further information, write to: paolo.viappi...@ip6.fr and patrice.pe...@lip6.fr -- ***** Paolo Viappiani, PhD, CNRS researcher CNRS-LIP6 laboratory - Université Pierre-et-Marie-Curie (UPMC) 4, Place Jussieu 75252 Paris, France tel. +33 (0)1 44 27 24 40 http://www-desir.lip6.fr/~viappianip/ * ___ uai mailing list uai@ENGR.ORST.EDU https://secure.engr.oregonstate.edu/mailman/listinfo/uai
