This sounds like a solution. Did you mean you powered a travel trailer

We used a pair of these to power a NB19 about 1200 ft from a house with
CAT5 up a driveway to clear woods. It runs a 56 vdc so you need to add a
ubiquiti convertor to get it back to 24v

Our only issue was a lightning strike nearby in the first year that
cooked one side. Veracity replaced it under warranty no questions asked.
It's been 2 years since and haven't rebooted it once. I'm sure power has
been out a few times though. YMMV

I usually roll my own extenders. I purchase these:

UHPPOTE 1 Port 10/100M PoE Extender IEEE802.3af For Ethernet Security Systems
IP Camera https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M28RTKZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_4c3AAb59M2VEK

Install them in an outdoor box

$30 for an outdoor box, $20 for an extender, $50 total instead of the
over-priced veracity units.

the ethernet. Start with 30 Volts. Sounds like you have power at the
other end to power the cameras?

Power the last switch from the other end

Bunch of assumptions there..1000 feet of direct bury laid on the
ground without anything in the way and how many cameras?

Might be way off base but have you considered a trail (game) camera with
cellular (if you have cellular service in the area). Lots of different
options to choose from. Just a thought.

I have no details/requirements other than cheap, quick.  These bastards
are dumping almost every night.  There are cedars, Myrtles, etc... in
the way.  Should I think about running power 1000ft?  Is there a cheap
way to get enough power to the cameras via POE?

I have to get cameras up and have a forest in the way.  Range is a

How dense a forest?

2.4 GHz airMAX AC is cheap enough to test with. 7.5W max on the CPEs.

UVC Gen3 draws 4W max (less during the day when the IR is off).

[Ubnt_users] cameras 1000ft through a forest

2018-01-25 Thread Jan-OOLLC
I have to get cameras up and have a forest in the way.  Range is a
little over 1000ft from house, need to live monitor the road and catch
dumpers.  What radios, how to keep them powered and what cameras should
I think about for first attempt?
