firefox

2007-04-22 Thread mike coulombe
Hi, I am using the nightly build of firefox.
My question is will the update in the help menu keep it updated.
Or do we have to download the whole file every day to get the latest.
Mike.

but after I enter the sudo password for software installation, I don't
get any speach output.
is this a known bug and is there a work arround?

Is synaptek accessible? I am not aware it's been updated to use
 gtk2.

Synaptic uses gtk2 and is accessible. The problem is probably that for
installing packages, one must become root at some point and then, orca
will no longer be able to communicate with the program. A fix for
Feisty has been posted some time ago. It involved adding some lines to
root's .orbitrc file. I have not tried this myself and do not know if
this is still the recommended solution. In this particular case, using
apt-get on the console is probably easier indeed.

Best regards, Lukas

suspect you'll need to use the apt-get command in the terminal (or in a
console).

does anyone use samba need some help

2007-04-22 Thread mike coulombe
Hi, I now see my ubuntu machine from the windows machines.
What do I have to edit to be able to log on to the ubuntu computer from the
windows machine.
I thought it used the same user name and password I use to log on when gnome
starts.
However this isn't the case because it doesn't work.
If a new user name and password has to be set up,
has anyone had experience doing this.

Re: need help with gedit

2007-04-22 Thread Rich Burridge
Hi Mike,

Hi, has anyone used the spell check in gedit.
 This used to work good,
but I noticed today I can't hear the misspelled word.
Using the tab all other choices are there,
 but it only offers replacements.
I don't ever get to the point where it says what word was misspelled.

This still works for me with latest Orca and latest Ubuntu Feisty.
Can you give more details on what you are doing? The steps you are
taking? Including the document where spelling isn't working would
be good too.

Thanks.
