vinux 2.1
Hi not sure where to post this I downloaded vinux 2.1 the big iso and can't get it installed. The cd spins and I get no speech. I had a sighted person read it and it said buffering and the numbers kept climbing. -- Ubuntu-accessibility mailing list Ubuntu-accessibility@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-accessibility
Re: vinux 2.1
Hi. The Vinux developers should have there own mailing list. In linux, setting up a mailing list is easy. Not sure of it's address, but this list is about Ubuntu and not vinux. Re: vinux 2.1
There seems to be a developers list at vinux-developm...@googlegroups.com according to http://groups.google.com/group/vinux-development I see no evidence of a users list at the moment. Re: Sound issues 10.04
Hi Thom, Why are you combining two emulators for testing? My suggestion: Use alsa for wine and configure the pulseaudio to use dmix so it can't block the audiocard. Edit/place the attached default.pa under ~/.pulse and restart pulseaudio. BR. problems with lucid
Hi, I installed the latest lucid live cd and had the following problem. The first time I booted the system, Orca worked fine. The next time I booted the system, I got the login message, and the system logs in. But there is no speech, my cpu fan runs and the computer apears to be locked because no commands work to shut it down. Is this a known problem? I tried to reboot several times and had the same results. One time I did hear welcome to orca before the computer locked. Re: problems with lucid
Hey there Mike, this is a known issue. If you can boot into recovery mode, do so and then issue sudo apt-get remove --purge plymouth. If you can't use recovery mode due to needing speech access, here is a work around. 1 boot the computer from a mem stick or usb drive 2. run gparted or equivalent to determine the partition of your ubuntu system. 3. press alt+f2 and type gnome-terminal 4. at prompt, issue cd /mnt 5. Type sudo mkdir sysimage 6. type sudo mount /dev/your-ubuntu-partition /mnt/sysimage For example, my command looks like: sudo mount /dev/sda5 /mnt/sysimage 7. Type sudo chroot /mnt/sysimage You should now be able to issue sudo apt-get remove --purge plymouth. I hope this helps, let me know if you need any further help. You can E-mail me off list if you need to. I really hope a fix is available soon, or ditch plymouth for this release until this problem is fixed. setting up wireless internet
yesterday i managed to install ubuntu karmic on my toshiba laptop after a sighted person at work sorted out the bios setting for my cd drive to be able to run the live cd. i went into the network settings menu under preferences and found the wireless settings which seems accessible now as i was able to see the fields where the information should go but there were one or two settings i am not sure about like mac address and when i tried to save my settings they disappeared. how do i set up a wireless connection? i heard something in the lug i used to attend about some commands that locate wireless networks but i can't remember the actual commands. was it something like iwconfig or something? perhaps someone could give me some advice as at the moment if i want to use my laptop i have to unplug the cable for my router from behind my desktop pc and plug it into the laptop when i want to use my laptop on-line. -- Ubuntu-accessibility mailing list Ubuntu-accessibility@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-accessibility
