Re: QT At-spi rolenames possible localizing before final Ubuntu 12.04 release?

2012-03-12 Thread Hammer Attila

Hy Luke,

If I see right, in qt-at-spi source the src directory need marking
translation the role names in src/constant_mappings.cpp file.

Look some lines:
qSpiRoleMapping.insert(QAccessible::NoRole,
RoleNames(ATSPI_ROLE_INVALID, "invalid", QObject::tr("invalid role")));
qSpiRoleMapping.insert(QAccessible::TitleBar,
RoleNames(ATSPI_ROLE_TEXT, "text", QObject::tr("title bar")));
qSpiRoleMapping.insert(QAccessible::MenuBar,
RoleNames(ATSPI_ROLE_MENU_BAR, "menu bar", QObject::tr("menu bar")));
qSpiRoleMapping.insert(QAccessible::ScrollBar,
RoleNames(ATSPI_ROLE_SCROLL_BAR, "scroll bar", QObject::tr("scroll bar")));

For example, look the menu bar related two strings:
"menu bar", QObject::tr("menu bar"
Need marking the first or the second string for translation?

Unfortunately I not have experiences with C code localizing, usual I
working more with Python.

I opened up the following bug for this situation:

I know Luke as been taking a look at it, and I'm pretty sure he told me
he's also been able to reproduce it.

This is the job of qt-at-spi to translate role names, and I don't think
qt-at-spi has translated role names yet. Please consider working with the QT
at-spi devs to get translatable role names working.

Thank you all. I have read on a blog post about this procedure for
11.04, and didn't know that it would work on 12.04 too. I was waiting
for the drumms, but as I didn't hear anything (I am on a noise place),
I thought the procedure changed.

Thank you.

We have changed it. The correct procedure to start the accessible
installer for Ubuntu Precise, which will become 12.04, is to insert the
cd, and allow it to run. When you hear the sound of the drums, hit
Ctrl+s. If you do not hear orca start in a minute or so, hit Ctrl+s
again. After orca starts, you can use Alt+Tab to change from orca
preferences to the installer.

Hi Lucas, last time I installed 12.04, the installer was completely
accessible.

Did you press ctrl+s when you heard the drum sound?

Indicators related bugs

2012-03-12 Thread Hammer Attila

Hy,

I now reported in indicator-power package with following bug, please
anybody confirm the status:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-power/+bug/953176

The power indicator have a silent menu item with Orca identifying with
"panel" role name. If I press ENTER this menu item, energy statistics
application launch correct.
Some this menu item the first menu item the power indicator, some time
the last. Interesting, but Orca not say position index this menu item
when the speak child position check box is checked.

Have a similar issue with indicator-sound package, but I not reported
yet this problem.
In Sound indicator have a silent menu item, before and after the
Rhitmbox menu item.

Need reporting this issue, or already reported this problem?

In Indicators main menu not all indicators have main menu label (for
example messages indicator have message label and right spokening Orca
this label).
Need reporting this issue? Possible fixing this issue and have chance
translators translate new added main menu labels before Ubuntu 12.04
release?

Following indicators main menu not have label:
Keyboard, Network, perhaps power, time and date indicator.

QT At-spi rolenames possible localizing before final Ubuntu 12.04 release?

2012-03-12 Thread Hammer Attila

Hy,

Since rolename refactor happened in Orca side, Orca determining
rolenames from At-Spi and atk.
Of course this is absolute not matter, because not need own rolename
translations with Orca side and not need redundant codes, atk already
have translatable rolename strings.
If Atk developers add new rolenames, enough translate one place the new
rolename string, and Orca will be known the new rolename.

Unfortunately with Ubuntu awailable qt-at-spi package the rolenames are
passed Orca with english strings (check boxes, push buttons, edit boxes,
etc), so the screen reader output is a mixed partialy translated output
with non english languages.
A typical example is a check box, Non english language visual impaired
user hear english role type (check box), and the label and state hear
he's own language, I verified this with Skype.
In Unity 2d the situation is similar. Non english language visual
impaired user hear own language a rolename label, and hear the role type
with english.

In Launchpad.net the translation strings are not awailable for qt-at-spi
package yet, I don't no upstream project already supporting the
localization or not:

https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/precise/+source/qt-at-spi

Have a chance to this problem are possible resolving before final Ubuntu
12.04 release, and translators have enough time making the translations
for qt-at-spi package to both two environment visual impaired users hear
equals rolename related informations, or this task will be happening
next development release?
If this task not fit the remaining Ubuntu 12.04 development cicle,
future possible resolving this problem with an update with a maintenance
release (12.04.1, 12.04.2, etc)?
