Re: do Precise has an alternative for remastersys?

2012-05-20 Thread Milton

Thanks a lot for helping me out. I found:
http://bikramkawan.com.np/how-to-install-remastersys-on-ubuntu-12-04-precise-pangolin/
It works as before with Orca!

I'm waiting for the new Vinux based on precise to come out before trying
our new LTS, or at least I'll wait a little while; so I've been learning a
bit about what is and isn't possible from this list and some other
reading.
One of the things that won me over to Ubuntu/Linux in the beginning was
the ease of backing up and making custom bootable USB-pendrives and
live-CD's.
I know that the remastersys dev seems to be less than enthusiastic
regarding this program of late. (of late means more than a year actually)
Why is the question. Is the software fragile, bugs just waiting to pop out
with any changes and updates, or does he just not have the time to give to
proper maintenence, (with out more compensation anyway), or is there some
issue with the latest Debian/Ubuntu releases that complicates things?
Last I heard he was indicating the second, but who knows.
AnywayI hope remastersys dev resumes, &/or some other similarly usable
program is available. Abnd of course we need this program to be
accessible.
I can't believe there's nothing in precise to take remastersys's place.
Have you Googled for this, or checked Precise's release notes, change-log
and similar documentation?
I'm going to do a quick search , but don't have much time right now. I'll
let you know if I find anything I'll let you know, and please do the same
for me.

Hi all,
In Natty I used Remastersys with Orca but I could not find this in
Precise Unity 2D. Is there an alternative that is accessible with Orca? I
notice the application to create a start up disc which is not accissible
with Orca.
