Re: how to browse apps
Also, in Unity you can just bring up the Dash with alt+f2 and then down arrow into a grid of all of the applications installed on your system. Re: Ubuntu 16.04 with Ubuntu Mate is it possible?
I have heard all the suggestions before that you have already gotten, and none of them work in Ubuntu, since version 15. You can go into networks and add a network, but you need to know the SSID and the type of network. I don't know why this has not been fixed to work with Orca. I have installed it on desktops and laptops, and it is the same every time. You just cannot get to a panel where it shows available networks. Re: how to browse apps
check but probably it is in repos for 16.04 classic-menu indicator, maybe indicator comes first indicator-classic-menu, but think it is the other way around. The program I mention is less cluttered and has a couple extras, so write me if you want a link or the package to install as I have not made a .deb yet. -- B. Re: Linphone
Not to worry, not to compile!. There is a PPA for Ubuntu that has latest or very close to latest linphone. I have used it for quite a while now on more than one distro, and the linphone ppa for at least a year now I think. It has extra codecs as well in it, all the infrastructure you need. I'm not writing this on my Ubuntu/Vinux box, so please google for this, or write me back and I'll look for the source you need to add. Regards -- B. Re: Ubuntu 16.04 with Ubuntu Mate is it possible?
If you did that in a user account you won't have access. This is a root operation. You'll also have to have a graphical user interface up in root for that to work. Another possibility as root in graphical user interface is to hit alt-f1 then downarrow to system then rightarrow into that menu. There should be an admin menu in system so rightarrow into admin then downarrow onto no network is connected then hit enter. You'll get a list of networks Ubuntu found so downarrow to your network then rightarrow onto the add network button and hit enter. You'll get prompted for a password so enter that, then rightarrow onto connect and hit enter. If I remember all of the mapping of ubuntu I shared with you here in this message correctly you should get connected.
