Fabiano, this bug produced your problem, but this bug is fixed in 25
febr 2009:

I hope Ubuntu developers replace need think with gtk+ or libgail-dev
package, I not sure what package need fix.

Now I using gtk+ trunk version and works nicely my machine.

Bug in Ubuntu 9.04

Dears

I've found a bug on Ubuntu 9.04. It happens that Orca does not speak the 
itens of any list that are not visible on the screen. So, everytime that 
one has to scroll down the scroll bar to see the itens of given list, 
Orca will not speak those itens. It happened on the add/remove programs 
list, on the list of plugins of Pidgin, on the list of apps on the 
keybord shortcut preferences and so on.
