Hi,
I downloaded the image:
xubuntu-xenial-mate-20170306-longsleep-sopine-8GB.img
and put it on a micro SD card and booted up, and I get no audio.
I can SSH into it when it is plugged into the router.
It has a headphone jack that I plugged a small powered speaker into, which
usually works for this, and I also plugged in an HDMI to VGA adapter which has
an audio jack on it, and sound comes out of neither place.
I have tried using:
espeak "hello"
and
speaker-test -c 2
and the speaker test runs fine, but sound comes out of neither place, and when
running eSpeak it gives some error about jack server cannot be located.
I looked in /etc and there is no .conf file for alsa.
But I ran apt install alsa-mixer and it told me that the one installed is the
latest package.

So since I don't really care if I can use it as such, I just want to be able to
transmit audio through my router for listening with other devices on my home
network.
Which is easier in the CLI to set up for this?
I'm thinking of CODI and VLC.
Thanks.

Glenn
