Title:
[address book] Phone number ordering within contact

Status in Ubuntu UX:
  Won't Fix
Status in address-book-app package in Ubuntu:
  Won't Fix

Bug description:
This bug affects contacts with more than one phone number.
Currently, the ordering of phone numbers seems to doesn't follow any
ordering-rule within a single contact entry.
I have several contacts with a home- and a mobile-phone-number.
The home-number is mostly listed first and the mobile-number is the second
list entry. But at some contacts the mobile-number is listed before the
home-number.
There should be a way to influence the ordering of phone-numbers within a
contact.

  - UX comment & resolution

There is no ordering of phone numbers in the Address Book app because
for some people the home (first) number will be the important one and
for others not. You always can change the order manually. Most people
have two, maybe three entries of phone numbers. All number entries are
grouped in a compact view in the contact card. This makes them easily
visible so that an ordering feature is unnecessary.

The way favouriting works is that the whole contacts becomes a
favourite and not just a number. This means as well that it will
become easier to find all data about that contact and change it faster
  if needed.

Marking this bug as Won't Fix because this feature is not needed.

  2. Check an unchecked box and import a contact

  What happens:
One or more numbers of the contact is used.

  What should happen:
The forwarding should be associated with the contact. This means that:
  1. We need to store a setting somewhere that the Contact App can access.
  2. System Settings has to write to this setting a) the number, b) the avatar,
c) the name of the contact.
  3. If Contact App edits the number of a contact that is associated with a
call forwarding, it should prompt the following [1].
  4. If Contact App deletes the number of a contact that is associated with a
call forwarding, it should prompt the following [2].

  From the spec [3].

  -- UX comment

As per implementation and new designs we do allow and have working
importing contacts from the SIM card either through app settings or
from the empty screen when launching the AB for the first time.

SD card import will be part of content hub or again, accessible
  through the app settings.

As for online accounts: there are currently no further plans to

Status in Ubuntu UX:

Status in address-book-app package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
Long contact name handling seems to behave somewhat erratically but
normally ends in "...". The expectation is that turning the screen
sideways would allow the full contact name to be shown but the app
doesn't seem to support this yet.

  -- UX comment--

The desired solution is that the address book app will be able to rotate into
landscape. There is a new header design for landscape on mobile and it will be
part of the UI toolkit. Once the header lands, then the address book can use
it.
As for the long name issue: Once the AB rotates into landscape, long names
should have more space to be displayed.

The new header design for mobile landscape can be found here:

[Ubuntu-apps-bugs] [Bug 1458784] Re: [Address Book] ubuntu touch: today scope / favourite contacts bad integration

Title:
[Address Book] ubuntu touch: today scope / favourite contacts bad
  integration

Status in Ubuntu UX:
  Fix Released
Status in address-book-app package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Hi!

Just two things I'd like to see in fav contacts: If you select a
contact and hit the call button, it doesn't place the call, but it
only opens the dialer app and copies the phone number to the input
field. You have to hit the green button to place the call. I think
this is annoying. If I hit the call button, I want the person to be
called immediately. There is no benefit of not placing the call. There
are no options in the dialer app. You just have to hit the green
  button.

The other thing is a little inconsistency with the dialer app. If you select
a contact and hit More and Open Button, you get to the properties screen of
the contacts app. Contrary to that, if you select contacts in the dialer app
and select a contact you first get presented a list with the persons phone
numbers and icons for messages and properties. If you want to call a number you
have to tap the number. I think, most time you select a contact from fav
contacts, you want to contact this person and for that, it should be the same
routine as in the dialer app. Most disturbing is, because you are taken to the
properties of the contact, you must not tap the phone number itself, but the
telephone icon at the right edge of the screen.
In my opinion, first thing you should be presented after hitting the more
button, is that small list as in the dialer app. Even better, forget about the
more button. The list could be presented immediately. So my ideal fav. contacts
screen has the red (why not green as in the dialer app) Call button, which I
like and then the small list as in the dialer app (with all the contacts phone
numbers and the message icons, and the contacts properties icon. ) This would
hold another advantage: You see which number is called when you hit the Call
button (supposed it always dials the first one from the list). Right now, you
never see which type (home, work, ...) of number is called when you tap the
Call Button. You don't see anything in the fav. app and the dialer app just
shows the number, not the type of number.

   UX comment

The behaviour of the dialer copying the number into the keypad is
intentional. This proved to be especially useful when users did make
calls from the web or other sources, as user testing confirmed.

The behaviour of contacts in the AB app and the dialer is now adjusted.
When you access the AB app, tapping on a list item/contact opens the contact
card. The same behaviour applies now to the dialer.

The contact card is always displayed regardless if the contacts are accessed
from the ALL or Favourites section in AB & dialer. This is due to the fact that
the whole contact is marked as favourite and many contacts have more than one
number. A tap on the number doesn't trigger a call or a new message because at
that moment in time we do not know the intentions of the user, this is the
reason why the icons for calling and messaging are displayed to distinguish
different actions.
This means the behaviour is as follows for a call from either dialer or AB:
tapping list item/contact > opening contact card > if a contact has two
numbers, tap on the phone icon of either numbers > number is pre-populated into
dialer, you see if it is work, home, etc > tap green call icon in dialer

Icon colours are unified because they are used across many other
applications and are not coloured differently for different apps.

  A. The titles almost look like they can be clicked.
  B. The seperators look like they encapsulate one item. For example in the
screenshot, the item looks like this:

  ---
  Number
  Home
  Email
  ---

  C. Page Title: "Edit"? Edit Contacts, or Edit my contact info?

I suppose considering that I can't connect to the server on qml scene,
I am confused as whether this is my own personal details, or the
hypothetical person I have in a list.

   UX comment & resolution

There is a UX and UI change for the Address Book app.
Edit always refers to the page you are editing and the way you normally land
on this page is:

  1. Open Address Book app
  2. Tap on a contact
  3. view contact card
  4. tap edit in the top right of the header in the contact card
  5. view switches and you are able to edit the contact.

For the latest visual design please refer to the visual design spec:

https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1XMHRg7T3KxMizExeRTmXJGar0WOUyBQ4A8lEMnQvcqA/edit#slide=id.g18adf9eae_59

The different sections are now much better separated.

that many users of Ubuntu might be moving from Android or other famous
OS on phone; these OS not always give the option to sync contact on

provide a way to import these backups.

  Steps :

   * Launch contacts
   * no option to sync, import/export contact are found on the interface (only
a search option and a + option)
   * swipe from down to access the + menu, users might expect to add manually
contact here, no more option like importing contacts from file.
   * To be sure I checked in the system settings, no import option found there

[Ubuntu-apps-bugs] [Bug 1504853] Re: Certificate errors in the browser are confusing

2015-10-12 Thread Chris Coulson
For non-overridable errors, this change will require webbrowser-app to
explicitly destroy CertificateError once the error sheet is dismissed,
in order to work correctly.

Olivier, that shouldn't be a problem, should it?

Certificate errors in the browser are confusing

Status in Oxide:
  In Progress
Status in webbrowser-app package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
When the browser displays a certificate error, it indicates the
request URL that the error originated from. This is fine. However, if
the navigation is content initiated then the addressbar will indicate
the URL of the currently committed page (which will be different to
the URL of the page causing the error, which is displayed in the error
  UI provided by the browser).

I have an idea to fix this by navigating the webview to a placeholder
interstitial page whilst waiting for a response from the browser. This
will update the addressbar, keep the navigation history consistent and
also make the back button behave the same as Chrome.

[Ubuntu-apps-bugs] [Bug 1504690] Re: www.playkeepout.com/ doesn't work (WebGL game)

2015-10-12 Thread Olivier Tilloy
And it works well too in chromium on my desktop.
I’m not seeing anything relevant in the logs, the only info we ever get is:

[JS] (http://www.playkeepout.com/js/three.min.js:9)
THREE.WebGLRenderer

Note that examples at http://threejs.org/examples/ work well in
webbrowser-app, both on desktop and on a phone (krillin). The issue
seems to be specific with keepout.

Overriding the UA string does not improve things.

I’ve noted that on a phone, the initial screen is black, but if I rotate
to portrait and back to landscape, some rendering happens and the sound
effects start playing, although the game doesn’t become playable.

Needs more investigation.
