[ubuntu-art] Expansor widget or arrows themes in Ubuntu theme.

2006-03-22 Thread Josué Alcalde González
Why the "expansor widget" is not customized in most of themes and
shouldn't it be customized in Ubuntu theme.

I suggested using a theme very similar to checkbox, whit a grey border
and an orange colour to fill it when focus.

Other idea, a focus border like buttons and textfields and the orange
colour when expanded.

Re: [ubuntu-art] Suggestions about artwork and choice.

2006-03-22 Thread Étienne Bersac

Hello,

For my taste, i find the caramel colour better than the orange. But
you're right, orange is not so bad, but currently, colours does not
fit well with each other.

About OOo. I really think we should simplify the theme handle.
Currently, users have cursor theme, background, sound, gdm greeter,
usplash theme and gnome splash to configure manually in order to
fully change the theme. This is far too complex. So we should
simplify instead of adding features. Users want easy consitant theme,
not patchwork desktop. I largely prefer firefox and OOo fit the
desktop theme. Even more, this is for me a great advantage (amongst
other such as performance and simplicity) of epiphany and gnome-office.

[ubuntu-art] quick pic -- optional wallpaper for Drake?

2006-03-22 Thread Randy Sims
I Am Not An Artist, but thought since the next release is called Dapper Drake, I could possibly make a very minor contribution.http://nsm1.utdallas.edu/randys/drake.jpg
I took this picture a few years ago and will gladly make it available for free use if you want it. I don't know what I'd need to do to get it "open licensed", but if you'd like to use it, please point me in the right direction. If not, thanks for your time. I am an Ubuntu backer, even if my work requires spending a lot of time in MS stuff.
Thanks,Randy Sims

There are also some, in my view, not so well executed icons contributed

naming scheme, I have tared up the icons here -
http://jimmac.musichall.cz/stuff/high-contrast.tar.bz2. The icons are
LGPL. I will be happy to contribute extending such a set, but do not
have time to set up the infrastructre and everything.

Hi Jakub - do you have the original Illustrator vector images? Would it
be possible to write them out in SVG format do you think?

[ubuntu-art] Suggestions about artwork and choice.

2006-03-22 Thread Vincent René-Corail

Hi everybody,

I had posted this message in Launchpad as I didn't know when to do it.
It is not easy for me to find everything I want in Launchpad as I am french.
So I just paste my message here for you to read it.
Thank you all for your great work.

Hi everybody,

I hope this is the right place to make suggestions about artwork and polish,
as is it not about bugs.

First of all, I would like to say that it is a very good thing that you take
care of users feelings about new themes you create/propose.
About that, I know that many people told you that the new theme in Dapper
was too orange and maybe ugly. But you must keep in mind that this is not
everybody's feeling about that.

Personnaly, I didn't just like the new human theme (brown windows, orange
when flying upon buttons and menus and orange folders), I LOVED IT SO MUCH !
It was a very good idea.It was very different than what we are used to see.
And I find the one you replaced it with is ugly (orange folders with blue
menus are really not good together).

Of course, you cannot satisfy everybody's tastes/feelings about artwork !
That is the reason why I'd like to tell you that you should let users have
the choice.
For example, you could create a second human theme called "human orange" (or
in theme's details for menus and buttons). Even if you keep something
different for the default artwork on Ubuntu, you should, at least, keep the
idea you had as a possible choice for the user. Why not ? This would satisfy
everybody.

The second thing is about OOo's icons. Openoffice's 2.0.2 package (the one
that is distributed by Sun and contributors) let us choose the icon theme
whatever desktop we are using (even if it uses the correct icon theme for
the correct desktop by default).
Once again, even if it is a good thing that you focus on gnome's
integration, you should let the user have the choice (crystal icon theme),
as everybody is not obliged to like it like that.

Thank you.

Vincent

[ubuntu-art] Proposal for additional QA and localisation time on Dapper

2006-03-22 Thread zzking
Hi Mark

First of all, congratulations for your T E R R I F I C job. I love
Dapper.

If you need more time, take it!!

Two remarks:

As long as I can use the daily versions and the updates, it's not an
issue for me.

Would be great if Dapper n+1, which will not be Enterprise specific,
would be on time (i.e. 6.10)

Anyway do your best as usual. I'm waiting (and my old PCs as well) w/
impatience for Xubuntu!

Have a nice working day from an admirative French guy!!

SVG is an interesting idea. There's an "Ubuntu Simple" one floating
around, and I'm sure it would be possible to whip up one or two for
inclusion in Dapper by default. Go ahead and submit some for
consideration by the art team.
