Looks nice, but... is it a Logo or a Splash?

it's a logo, which is displayed in the dialog, when you start gaim (if
you don't have auto-connect turned on) and in the info dialog as well.

Have a nice day,
 Daniel

Hello,

Imho, the key picto for gaim is more a balloon than an envelope.
Envelope is for Evolution/Mail agent.

the colours in the first example are complimentary with those of the current
Ubuntu theme (blue-orange) and so could look great on the desktop..

the second option looks great and fits in a very literal sense of course.
perhaps not as exciting as a result.

these are splashes?

Re: [ubuntu-art] Request for Espresso icon

 Hi,

I'd like the Install System Permanently icon on Dapper live CDs to
have an icon by the time we do the beta release, and time is getting
short (ten days left). Unfortunately I have little or no artistic
ability myself, so I'd like to appeal for somebody to make me an icon.
 https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuExpress/GnomeUserInterface has a
suggestion for how it should look:

The Live CD desktop contains an Install Ubuntu Permanently icon,
consisting of an arrow overlaid on the Ubuntu logo.

I guess we'll also need a similar icon with the Kubuntu logo.

I'm not subscribed to this list, but if anyone could attach an icon to
 https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/espresso/+bug/32358, I'd be
 very grateful!

 Thanks,

Hey Colin,

Sorry got getting back to you on this so late. I hope it is not too
late. I had some ideas for this icon using some of the work of the Tango
team.

Have a look at the tango system-installer icon:
http://klepas.org/temp/system-installer.svg

I just added the Ubuntu logo and you can instantly tell what it is. I
can expand this idea and make the Ubuntu logo comply with the Tango
guidelines easily:

Cheers,

Pascal
