I think this has been part of the problem with the existing artwork structure. Professional art has very clearly defined targets. Hopefully we have increased this level a bit, and can work towards a clearer specification implementation with a little more time and experience. > The usplash > > spec, for > > example, needs some expansion. I hopefully have addressed this in the mail I sent you. The USplash will be marked with the same artistic motifs as the other three targets. Some of the 'Needs Infrastructure', from what I have seen, were temp 'needs more work in documenting, etc' before it can be addressed. I have tried to get most of them set to 'Braindump', but of course, until everyone gets up to speed on Launchpad, it will take a little more cleanup / effort. > > I'm looking forward to a much more rigorous approach to artwork in > > this > > release, with closer coordination between the development team and > > the art > > team. Baby steps. We are trying. We _very_ much need that closeness with the core non-art dev team -- it is critical. I might as well jump on the bandwaggon here I'm going to be in Italy without a computer from 8-15 July and then away again first two weeks in August... So don't expect anything from me around that time. You could subscribe the ubuntu-art team to the relevant specs in order to group them; the /people/ubuntu-art/+specs page will then list all relevant specs. -- - mdz -- ubuntu-art mailing list ubuntu-art@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-art

There's already an informational edgy-artwork spec here: https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+spec/edgy-artwork which describes the artwork process for Edgy. -- - mdz -- ubuntu-art mailing list ubuntu-art@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-art
Re: [ubuntu-art] Artwork specs for Edgy
Hi, Any and all attempts to change a spec name on launchpad have failed (http://launchpad.net/bugs/51826). Just thought I would mention that it might take a bit longer to change this stuff. If nothing else, I guess creating new specs with the correct names and deleting the old might work but isn't much fun :-( Bye, Ken -- ubuntu-art mailing list ubuntu-art@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-art

I'll add the overall spec and change the names of the existing ones but there is one thing I would like to suggest: could we keep the word "art" (or some other unique identifier)? It makes it much easier to search for all art related specs. So it would be "edgy-ubuntu-usplash-art" which is kinda long, but helps artists who do not know the name of the packages find things. Re: [ubuntu-art] Artwork specs for Edgy
Could you add an overall "edgy-artwork" spec, which depends on each of the specific targets? Also, I think its important to rename the specs to "edgy-ubuntu-usplash", "edgy-kubuntu-login-screen" etc rather than "ubuntu-art-foo", because we will want new specs for edgy+1.
