When creating an icon set for Ubuntu, what icons are typically in an alternative set? If I am to be his liason for the artwork list, I'll need to know what I have to do to submit his work, if he agrees to participate. He does understand that this is un-compensated work that will be freely given for all (Ubuntu users) to use. Thank you for taking the time to read and reply. Please feel free to send him to the mailing list or contact me directly. Best not to have an intermediary. :) I asked him to contact you. Did he? Neither of you let me know anything further. I've been trying to entice some of the better content creators from Stardock (wincustomize.com) and DeviantArt (deviantart.com) to come and create for Ubuntu. It would greatly enhance my Ubuntu experience to have more icons, wallpapers, and desktop treatments to use on my computer. Please don't top post. ;) Nobody new has contacted me/the list about icon creation. -Cory K. -- Message: 2 Date: Wed, 11 Feb 2009 06:09:21 -0500 From: John Baer bae...@gmail.com Subject: Re: [ubuntu-art] Human Metacity To: ubuntu-art@lists.ubuntu.com Message-ID: 1234350561.6180.4.ca...@baerj-desktop Content-Type: text/plain On Wed, 2009-02-11 at 04:08 +, ubuntu-art-requ...@lists.ubuntu.com wrote: I have a question: will the Human Metacity theme (as currently in use) be used in Jaunty again? Re: [ubuntu-art] Artwork Deadline One (John Baer)
After thinking about it I decided my last approach to the Tumble Weed background was probably not the best. It took patiences but I was able to burn the Jaunty sketch into the background so that it changes as the background colors change. I posted new images to the wiki page. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Artwork/Incoming/Jaunty/Impression/Background The last image is simply to point out he is there. The antlers get a bit lost in the straw but you get the idea. I want to create something for the GDM login background to complete this theme. John BTW: If you come up with a background color that is better than those displayed let me know. :) -- ubuntu-art mailing list ubuntu-art@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-art
Re: [ubuntu-art] [Breathe] Power option icons (help wanted)
what I would do, is inner shadow on the inner circle and gloss layer on the inner circle :) -- ubuntu-art mailing list ubuntu-art@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-art

Ill just go now. :) I like 'em. The only think that stands out to me is the shine on the middle circle. It goes evenly into the black symbol which I assume is routed out into the aluminum so would be recessed. So I would think the shine wouldn't be even. The black symbol gets obscured where it should stand out. This is also supposed to look spiral brushed aluminum? I think it's almost there but needs a little something. For one it looks like the center points don't line up. (the shine to the center of the circle). I also wonder if the shadow below is needed as this is a button. -Cory K. -- ubuntu-art mailing list ubuntu-art@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-art

2009/2/11 Cory K. coryis...@ubuntu.com Ok. I let this one go for a bit hoping others would chime in. Yeah, I thought about this when I give the image that I uploaded another look. I'll fix it on the next version. This is also supposed to look spiral brushed aluminum? I think it's almost there but needs a little something. For one it looks like the center points don't line up. (the shine to the center of the circle). You're right, doesn't look centered. The problem it's that I used the align feature from Inkscape, and I probably selected the wrong object :) I, also, will fix this on the next version. I also wonder if the shadow below is needed as this is a button. -Cory K. I'll make samples with and without the shadow, and then we decide. My biggest concern was the small sizes icons but I think they look pretty good. -- Seba (AKA spg76) http://www.ubuntu-ar.org -- ubuntu-art mailing list ubuntu-art@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-art
