I think it all comes down to the final integration of art and photograph.
Maybe http://www.desktopography.net/ can help for inspiration? Although it's
got some wild pieces with a lot of contrast, you'll also find proof that the
contrast can be soft if done right.

:) The criteria for picking were:

1. Large and focused
2. Subject matter (koala) offset
3. Soft focus on the background( so I can use things like liquid rescale)
4. good amount of color.

I was actually going for meditating koala. The designs were supposed be
like the koala chi (lol dragonball). still looking back I agree it does
not convey this properly.

Yes it does tend to be loud, but I personally feel that the jaunty
wallpapers weren't loud enough. I am sure we can find a way to tone it
down a bit once I have something worked out on this dream-state idea.
This dream-state idea is awesome, I will work on this more.

How much vector is too much? How will I know? I suppose it will have to
be done on trial and error basis.

Less vague and more grounded would be nice.

Kevin, please read and try to understand

and

The first is not open to discussion at all.
The second is open for additions and improvements.

[ubuntu-art] Organizing Incoming/Karmic

Sure. Nobody replied when I proposed something like that a while ago.
Again I decided to wait until there is something to sort, except for:

Wallpapers exists, I just called it Backgrounds. Because the appearance
preferences call it that.

I'd be OK with
 * Backgrounds
 * Mockups
 * Themes
 * Graphics/Other

But how about we switch off automatic sub-page listing and require
everyone to add a link and short description to their page?

Such explicit links could be organized into categories without having
another level of pages.

Sure, I meant to wait until there is actually something to sort, but go
for it, add those sections ;)
