[ubuntu-art] [Breathe] Some wiki cleanup is needed + notes.

2009-05-01 Thread Cory K.
The Submissions page is getting a bit crowded and I like to ask artists
to go through and remove multiple versions of submissions where there
has already been discussion pushing us toward a direction.

I also need the cleanup done and any of my questions answered (in
previous emails) so I can make a massive upload this weekend.

@Daniel: I'm diggin' the Nav icons and they will go in this weekend.
The "mail series are looking nice as well. Though, I'm unsure about
the "new" and "unread" glyphs. Especially where the "new" glyph is
used on the folder. Lastly, I'd like you to look over the "network
pipe" you have under your folder idea. See if we can soften it up a
little. And remember the shadow for the folder might have to change
here. ;)

@Oliver: Please finish up the final 3 "media-*" icons. I'm unsure
about the coloring on the "view-refresh" icons coloring. I also want
to get Sebastien's view on the "zoom" set. The lens doesn't sit
right with me and the weight of the symbols doesn't feel consistent
across the set.

@Sebastian: Along with removing unneeded icons I like the "modem" so
far. Go with it. I also was wondering if you wanted to try your hand
at a "tilted" version of your keyboard for use in front of our
"computer" icon? Hell, As much ad I like our current screen, I'm
open to suggestions here if someone wants to tinker with some ideas.

So if we can take care of some of the stuff above I think we can have a
big influx of new icons this weekend.

Have fun.

I made "zoom-in2" through your suggestions. :) I think the Icon isn't
construcded for have it behind. ;)

Now the ask is! What is better for dark- and bright themes? White or
black?
The black symbols give me at moment a too much penedrant feeling ... :-?

I like the these icons.
I have a couple of suggestions, tough.
I think that it's better if you put the symbols behind the magnifier (like
if you are looking at them through the glass) and make them all black.
I also think that glossiness of the glass should be more subtle.
Sorry I enter so late in the discussion.

I removed the unneeded icons (the ones that are already in the set and old
versions).
I hope to finish the modem this weekend.
I'm still working on the keyboard because I find really difficult to make
small sizes that look good.
As soon as I finish it I'll make a tilted version to go with the screen and
maybe put the mouse too.

Re: [ubuntu-art] [Breathe] mail series

2009-05-01 Thread spg76
I think that, as Thorsten mentioned, the envelope still looks a little hard.
Also, I'm not sure about the "blurs" on the glyphs for "unread" and "new".
Besides from that, I really like the overall look of this icons.
Sorry for enter so late in the discussion.

[ubuntu-art] [Breathe] user-desktop

2009-05-01 Thread Oliver Scholtz 1
The small sizes of it aren't good in bright themes. I supose a dark
outline on it. In the small sizes, it shouldn't have letters inside - of
course. The panel (down) can be smaller, too.

Would be nice, if Sebastian can/could upload a new version of it.

You will do it? :) Well. Take care that they are so good as possible in
their girds and be care with the 22x22-"plate". Try to stay in his
limit ...

Ten cuidado con el fondo del 22x22. Intenta quedarte en sus
limitationes. Te reguerdo q las lineas no deberian estar menos q 0,5.
Entonces todo ira bien... ;)

I don't know if we can do it so soon. I already haven't fixed them. What
I mean you see if you open a svg-file of them and look for the
"plate" ... yes you wouldn't find nothing. ;)
I want fix it ...

We talk always to much ... finally we have more confusing and breaks in
the fluid of creation. Glyphs are changeable. Some sketches of ideas
would be nice, because with say "I'm unsure ..." don't helps a lot. How
we now in wich kind of glyphs are you thinking!? ;)
But at the moment we can *take* it till we get the final decission?

I can't till I am not sure the rest is 100%. At moment it isn't.
If I feel well with the rest the finish up goes quickly.

In what colour you thought? The base is here ... :)

If you go this kind: 48-32-22-16 not. But if you compare it with
in-out-original-bestfit-48 - in-out-original-bestfit-32 etc. ... yes. ;)
I never saw them nicer so far and the symbols inside are markant and
very good seeable. This is very important - I think.

In this kind of icons I have experience and many hours of anger... It's
very very dificult to get them better. ;)

Right, this sounds like the best solution. If doing that messes up the page
layout or design in general, then I would include them with something
somewhere which shows that they are works in progress and/or information on
improving them for the wider community (ie. to get people to come up with
ideas for these pics).

Sorry that it took so long to respond, today is a holiday in Germany and I am
just reading my email now.

I think you can and should copy the text to the Artwork page and simply
replace the images with plain text headings for now.
