Hi. I would also like to help out on this new site. Spam is annoying (trust me,
i get quite a bit of it) and any help people can get to combat it is 1 step
closer to fully combating it.

 ORIGINAL MESSAGE:

 Hello all!

I am asking for Moderator/Administrator status on the following site:

 http://sth-group.pl/ubuntu-artwork/

This is the Unofficial Site for Ubuntu Artwork. I am requesting this status
because I have visited the site and noticed that users/members have been
abusing their forum privileges. I will not go into details at the given
moment. I'm not exactly sure who owns the administrator account
(kWeglinski), but I am just asking for Moderator status so I can delete all
of the unrelated spam that has recently been posted onto the site. There are
over 2,000 spam topics throughout the site, and I would like to get rid of
them. Please contact me ASAP, because I would not like to see all of our
 starting effort go to waste.

 Thank you,

 Thomas Corwin

Having 4 websites already shows potential behind this idea. But we are
failing at the basics.
1. We need to make a list of the people interested in the project.
Otherwise, we have four individual projects and not a team.
2. We have to agree on a communication channel, so far this list is the
only one working.
3. Discuss the general goals of the project.
4. Get started with a website, hosting, domain, coding, etc...

So, for us to get moving, I suggest that those interested in joining the
project vote one of the available communication channels. This way, we
tackle points 1 2 at once.
The alternatives we have so far are:
A. http://sth-group.pl/ubuntu-artwork/ : this is a forum.
B. IRC: #ubuntu-artwork @ chat.freenode.net
C. Skype: I think some one suggested using Skype
D. http://ubuntu-art.linkmaster.com/: this site has some social media
in-built, but I think it is down now.
E. this mailing list

Let's keep this open for 48hrs, then the option with most votes is the one
we use. Remember guys that if we can't agree on the fundamentals, the
project is already dead.

I vote for A because a forum seems perfect to start a discussion, and B as
a secondary option.

Gabriel

 about 2 years.

 ...

If you would like to help out with design work, that would be excellent!

Here's a simple task to start off with: redesigning the Jockey tool.

Open System Settings. Under the Hardware section, choose Additional
Drivers. You should see a window something like this:
 http://imgur.com/jCUXR

Now, think of half a dozen ways to present this interface differently.
 For example, as:
 * its own panel inside System Settings (instead of a window)
 * part of the System Info panel of System Settings (since it's about
hardware)
 * part of Ubuntu Software Center (since it's about installing/removing
software, specifically drivers)
 * part of Update Manager (since installing a proprietary driver, like
installing updates, is something you may need to do shortly after
installing Ubuntu).

Identify benefits and disadvantages of each approach, and make a
 recommendation. :-)

Some questions you might consider when choosing a design:
 * What should its title be? http://launchpad.net/bugs/635640
 * If there is an additional driver available, how should an Ubuntu
user learn this automatically? http://launchpad.net/bugs/617392
 * What should happen if the interface is invoked manually, when no
extra drivers are available? http://launchpad.net/bugs/520871
 * How can people make an informed decision about whether to install a
driver? http://launchpad.net/bugs/397465
http://launchpad.net/bugs/512902
http://launchpad.net/bugs/550083
 * What should happen if there's no Internet connection when you try to
download a driver? http://launchpad.net/bugs/299023
 * How should progress be shown? http://launchpad.net/bugs/290242
http://launchpad.net/bugs/614827
 * What should happen if a driver fails to install?
http://launchpad.net/bugs/311650
 * What should happen after a driver is installed or removed?
http://launchpad.net/bugs/739242
 * Should searching for a printer driver use the same interface, or a
custom interface? http://launchpad.net/bugs/596141
