Well now is the era of minimalistic designs. I have an idea but it will
take me a while to draw it.
So try to keep everything minimalistic.

Airdrop idea rox. We should go this way. Imho those + or arrows are too
 usedup by others.
I'll make some projects when i get home, which is about 3hours.

 Hi folks

We have a usability problem in Software Updater (formerly known as
 Update Manager).

The problem is that when the updates dialog appears by itself, there's
no visual clue that this is an official Ubuntu thing. In Ubuntu 12.10
and earlier, the icon is just a brown box with an orange arrow. And in
Raring right now, it's an A with a progress bar and arrows around it
 - -- again, nothing obviously to do with Ubuntu, and a bit of a non
 sequitur too.

So, it would help if we had a new icon, one which obviously
communicates that these are official updates for Ubuntu.

One possibility that I've suggested is an airdrop -- a wooden box
being lowered by parachute, where either the box or the parachute (but
not both!) features the Ubuntu logo.
 http://www.google.com/search?q=airdroptbm=isch Maybe you have other
 ideas too.

Please post your proposals here, or DeviantArt, or Imgur, or wherever
suits you, and link to them in a reply here.

Let's get something really classy into Ubuntu 13.04.

 Thanks!

There isn't really a theme other than great photography :) We have been
lucky in the last few releases. I think Flickr should still be the place we
do this, it's got lots of great photograhers and designers already living
there but am open to suggestions.

UI Freeze is 25th August so we have until then to get our images into the
 release.

Is there someone out there who would like to step forward, start the

What do we think? If not I am happy to keep it truckin' along.

OK, Considering non-photographers were treat badly for the wallpaper
competitions of the past, it's good to know that we're not being strung
along this time round and you're only interested in photographs.

 Flickr is great for that.
