Re: [ubuntu-art] Help Needed from Ubuntu Art Team!

2013-06-10 Thread Thomas Corwin
I'm not sure if we will need it anymore, since I now have access to the
abandoned source code. But I will see if it has a logo in use, and if it does,
I will send it through the mailing list.

No guidelines really, just update the original.

[ubuntu-art] Help Needed from Ubuntu Art Team!

Hello all!

Is anyone interested in making a Logo for Quickshot 2.0? I have taken it upon
myself to completely remake the outdated application, Quickshot, for the Ubuntu
Manual team! I need a logo for it though, is anyone interested?

Thanks!

Having 4 websites already shows potential behind this idea. But we
 are failing at the basics.
 1. We need to make a list of the people interested in the project.
Otherwise, we have four individual projects and not a team.
 2. We have to agree on a communication channel, so far this list is
 the only one working.
 3. Discuss the general goals of the project.
 4. Get started with a website, hosting, domain, coding, etc...

So, for us to get moving, I suggest that those interested in joining
the project vote one of the available communication channels. This
way, we tackle points 1 2 at once.
The alternatives we have so far are:
 A. http://sth-group.pl/ubuntu-artwork/ : this is a forum.
 B. IRC: #ubuntu-artwork @ chat.freenode.net
 C. Skype: I think some one suggested using Skype
 D. http://ubuntu-art.linkmaster.com/: this site has some social media
in-built, but I think it is down now.
 E. this mailing list

Let's keep this open for 48hrs, then the option with most votes is the
one we use. Remember guys that if we can't agree on the fundamentals,
 the project is already dead.

I vote for A because a forum seems perfect to start a discussion, and
 B as a secondary option.

Having 4 websites already shows potential behind this idea. But we
 are failing at the basics.
 1. We need to make a list of the people interested in the project.
 Otherwise, we have four individual
 projects and not a team.

Let's keep this open for 48hrs, then the option with most votes is
the one we use. Remember guys that if we can't agree on the
fundamentals, the project is already dead.

I vote for A because a forum seems perfect to start a discussion, and
 B as a secondary option.

Re: [ubuntu-art] ubuntu-art Site

2013-01-26 Thread Thomas Corwin
Well, it seems there is a problem.. We have four people making four different
websites for this project. We need 1 person to start us off with the website.

The four sites so far are:

http://bootswatch.com/united/

http://ubuntu-artwork.webs.com/

http://sth-group.pl/ubuntu-artwork/

http://ubuntu-art.linkmaster.com/

We have to choose one to use.

This will prove really good for a website. Its all done in ubuntu-ish colours
and its standard/reactive CSS and javascript anyone can use.

Graphics is my passion, and I love to combine it with my web design skills,

Gabriel,

I totally agree. I vote B, but I'm perfectly fine with A as well.

Also, I made an unofficial IRC channel for this: ##ubuntu-artwork

 3. Discuss the general goals of the project.
 4. Get started with a website, hosting, domain, coding, etc...

So, for us to get moving, I suggest that those interested in joining the
project vote one of the available communication channels. This way, we tackle
 points 1 2 at once.
The alternatives we have so far are:
 A. http://sth-group.pl/ubuntu-artwork/ : this is a forum.
 B. IRC: #ubuntu-artwork @ chat.freenode.net
 C. Skype: I think some one suggested using Skype
 D. http://ubuntu-art.linkmaster.com/: this site has some social media
in-built, but I think it is down now.
 E. this mailing list

Let's keep this open for 48hrs, then the option with most votes is the one we
use. Remember guys that if we can't agree on the fundamentals, the project is
 already dead.

I vote for A because a forum seems perfect to start a discussion, and B as a
 secondary option.

Also, it has been posted onto the Facebook page (Ubuntu Artwork). I copied and

If you choose to post your vote on the Facebook page, do not post it here too,
this will make it fair so everyone has 1 counted vote.

Well, to anyone that would like to join, we need a different way to
communicate. I understand this is the Ubuntu-Art mailing list, but what we are

It would be great if we could all meet on here, one time or another, so we can

I'm not exactly sure who is taking charge, but I brought it up so I might as
well respond to your email.

Like our Facebook page: Ubuntu Artwork

This will reduce spam and unofficial talk on the mailing list. :)

I am currently busy with lots of schoolwork, but I am ready and eager to give

[ubuntu-art] Possible Meeting?

2013-01-24 Thread Thomas Corwin
Hello Everyone!

I know I have introduced myself previously, but I haven't been very active in
the Ubuntu community.

My name is Thomas Corwin, and I am a 16-year old Sophomore (10th grade) from
New Castle, PA. Im currently beth a Windows and Ubuntu user. I make basic
software for Windows (via VB.NET). I've also (attempted) to make icons and
pictures for my software.

I've been interested in helping Ubuntu in any way ever since I heard of it!
I've wanted to do something, but I haven't the slightest clue of what I
can/should do.

Would it be possible to create a meeting of some sort on the IRC channel for
newcomers (such as myself)? I think it would be helpful to not only myself, but
anyone else who has recently joined in on the Ubuntu-Artwork project. It's just
a thought though. :)

the form of a simple HTML FAQ, or whatever format would work best. Thomas'
idea has potential in my opinion.

[ubuntu-art] Request for Website

2013-01-24 Thread Thomas Corwin
Would anyone object the creation of an unofficial website for Ubuntu Art? It
would contain user-submitted art, how to get involved, what Ubuntu is, and any
other information deemed appropriate. So, any objections?

2012-10-21 Thread Thomas Corwin
Sorry, I should've been a little more specific than preinstalled apps. I just
wanted a picture of the desktop that hasn't been modified at all from its
installation. For example, no added apps to the sidebar, no folders or files on
the desktop, no apps open.

Thank you 刘大理 it's very much appreciated. I'm also looking for a picture
that has only preinstalled apps in the sidebar. But you don't have to worry
 about this.

 Thanks,

 Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could take a screenshot of the desktop of
Ubuntu 12.10, and email it to me. I would prefer the size to be 800x600,
but it doesn't matter. No windows can be open though.

 Thanks in advance!

[ubuntu-art] Cursor Creation

2012-07-11 Thread Thomas Corwin
Hello,
I was curious if creating Linux cursors for Ubuntu would count as
something in the art-part of ubuntu. I'm not exactly sure if this would be
useful, but would this be something to look into? If you need some samples, I
would be more than happy to send some.

Thanks.
