[ubuntu-art] [Breathe] Smileys bug

2009-07-03 Thread michote
I just wanted to inform about a little bug I found in trunk.
Face-crying is wrong labeled (as sad).
It overwrote the face-sad, so face-crying is renderd as face-sad, and there's
no face sad.
Could anybody fix this?

I uploaded a new version, don't know if you like it, I just tried a different
style.
I'll give the monkey a try but I haven't much time, at the moment, sorry.

2009-06-22 Thread mac_v
Hi,
I'v uploaded the smileys [face-smirk,face-kiss,face-crying]... to the
breathe submissions page.

Other than the face-glasses [Michote is probably going to upload a new
version soon],the only smiley remaining is the face-monkey... I wont be
doing it... so someone needs to finish it... Michote?

@Cory: awaiting your feedback and the elusive weekend mail :P
Also Michote showed interest in completing smileys listed according to
the
http://standards.freedesktop.org/icon-naming-spec/icon-naming-spec-latest.html#guidelines
, while they havent been listed in the breathe wiki submissions page,
You havent responded regarding that ? Will you be needing them?

Cheers,

I don't like their sporty style nor the lighting. Makes them feel
separate from the face.

Hi,
Looks good :)

Thorwil still felt that the horns looked pasted on, his suggestion was:
try copying the horn shape, make it a bit smaller, narrower, apply the
brightest color from the face gradient and blur

I like this gradient better... Shine works well now... but i have a few
thoughts... could you ping me in the irc?

I like the glasses, but i feel the mouth could be brown as the rest of
the smileys. [if not the whole mouth , atleast the stroke color could be
the same as the rest.]

I uploaded a second version of the devil-grin,
and a first version of devil-sad.
But I'm not really happy with it, feels like something is missing.
Is these tear to much?

I really like your face-surprise, maybe you could add some browns or corners of
the mouth
to get some more details to the others as well?

Both devils look flat compared to the other smilies. Please apply a
similar gradient. A slight shift to orange might be OK.

How about a black tear? :)

i didnt like the tears too... *tears are not need for the sad* .
in the 22,16px sad, the mouth is not clear try using black , or if it is
already black, make it a bit thicker

the shine also doesnt seem right... maybe just a lighter shade of red
would do the shine better.

And as thorwil has said the red seems a bit dull... Try Using the color

I'v not gotten to do that yet, but if you have time feel free to edit
and add your version to the wiki...

But first, I think if you have time try completing the others , and then
editing these would be wise...

the teeth could be shorter in all the sizes... + the narrower mouth
width in 16px...

one more thing is that the eyes have too much shine... i did it
similarly initially :) , but the feedback was it was too much, so
something similar to the shine of other smileys would be good.

sometimes you get quicker feedbacks at irc #ubuntu-artwork ,lot of
others are also there.

I think it's better. The eyes on the 32px and down sizes look kind of
squared and I think it's better if you use a wider border.

The addition of a shadow and non-rectangular eyes is good.

not bad. look and feel a bit realistic , it is best to be pleasant and

For emblems to be quiet, the truth is they are very inconsistent, if

Good start. I think you should assume light from straight above, not
shifted to the left side.

A subtle gradient on the eyes should make them look less like holes and
more like paint.

Color on the bottom edge should be less saturated.

I like them (specially face-Base2).
I also like the button look that you use, although I think it could be a
problem if you want to avoid some glossiness and I wonder if it's good for
all the smileys.
