I don't know if anyone has used compiz and xgl yet, but it adds a
shadow around the window, including on the window decorations. It
looks very poor to me. If Edgy is going to be about new technology,
I'd love to see XGL make it in, and for the windows to actually look
nice.

(but please, resist the urge to turn wobbly windows on by default...)

I find it interesting that you have mentioned the possible usage of "new 
technologies" in future Ubuntu releases. I've spoken with the art team 
about this before. They say that it might very well be possible that 
Ubuntu will support special effects such as alpha blending in the 
future, since support for video cards is rapidly increasing. It's, of 
course, only viable when video acceleration is possible on the system.


Something to keep in the back of your head when thinking of new ideas 
for the user interface. GNU/Linux developers have always been able to 
come up with creative means of using their computers' capabilities, and 
I'm sure we won't have any problems with that.
