Re: [ubuntu-art] Gwibber icon

2010-03-24 Thread Mr. Andrzejak
Sergei's purple icon design would blend very well with the other new purple
lucid icons. I could do a mock up of the lucid indicator applet pulled down
showing the purple gwibber icon.

Hi Serge,
In Humanity , We dont usually change the branding of applications.[Else
there are a lot of icons we would like to change ;p]
For baobab , the icon was quite old and hence had to be updated for a
default install.
For Humanity-icon-theme we tried to replace all the icons in
Human-icon-theme , The OOo icons were included in the Human theme and
hence done for Humanity similarly several others. A few other changes
have been due to the design team asking us to update the icon.

IMO, Original gwibber icon isnt /that/ bad to warrant a replacement.
And its too late in the UI freeze to make such replacements too.

If you are interested in fixing icons, there are a few open bugs in
humanity you can help out with :-)

Never used Gwibber, but your icon seems too cluttered, maybe remove the
navigation lines.

Thanks, Bruno!
I've asked a
questionin
Launchpad and it was converted to a bug
#544959against
Humanity icon theme. I'm looking forward to a response.

Serge,

That's a great icon! I like the orange version too. Now, in terms of
getting it included in the distro, the gwibber package page [1] shows
the maintainer as the Ubuntu core developers. So either ask the question
via Launchpad (you have a link on page [1]) or send an email to the
ubuntu-devel mailing list and someone should be able to tell you what
the procedure is.

got a bit darker and should fit the new dark theme.

Thank you for your feedback, I'll try to recolor it to purple. What about
those white dots and lines on the surface? Shall I move them closer to the
center to make them more visible, or it's unneeded?
Humanity theme sometimes replaces upstream icons - for example, baobab,
gedit, system monitor, openoffice, etc. In my opinion, this icon is
Ubuntu-specific. I doubt that upstream will accept it.

Cheers,
Serge.

Re: [ubuntu-art] Gwibber icon

2010-03-22 Thread Nate Wiebe

Great icon! I hope it gets replaced by this, but I'm thinking that since it is
a program icon, it will be up to the Gwibber team. Hopefully they will replace
the icon, I really don't like the current Gwibber icon, it seems like it is
from 1998.

[ubuntu-art] Gwibber icon

2010-03-22 Thread Сергей
Hello everybody,
I'm new to this list and I'm not sure if it's the right thing to post such
ideas, but creating a separate page in /Incoming for such a trifle seems
ridiculous.
I've been testing Lucid beta-1 recently and noticed Gwibber pre-installed in
it. I liked the program, but its icon seemed ugly and alien to Ubuntu
environment. I tried to spruce it up a bit and use the same idea. That's
what I got out of Karmic icons:
http://shnatsel.narod.ru/gwibber_proof-of-concept.svg It's just an
illustration of the idea, but I hope that a more experienced artist will
rework it or something and the next release will have a fancier icon.

Best wishes,
