Good luck and show us something, I am eagerly enthusiastic about what you could make out of this :) Best regards Nicklas W Bjurman On Wed, Jan 28, 2009 at 7:00 PM, Pete wrote: > yeah these are some good ideas, I will learn how to use the pixmap > engine [any good tutorials wellcome, I think just look at how other > ones are done ^_^]. > > I think it would look quite good. yeah these are some good ideas, I will learn how to use the pixmap engine [any good tutorials wellcome, I think just look at how other ones are done ^_^]. I think it would look quite good. I will try and make a clear and clean theme with the ideas from Thorsten with speech bubbles and eardrops ^_^. -- ubuntu-art mailing list ubuntu-art@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-art

To not end up with something overbearing, I would concentrate on the wallpaper first. If you also want custom widgets, I would suggest to not draw them as something-else-in-place of the common widgets, but rather anime-style renditions of the widgets. How would a mangaka draw the them? -- Thorsten Wilms thorwil's design for free software: http://thorwil.wordpress.com/ -- ubuntu-art mailing list ubuntu-art@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-art
Re: [ubuntu-art] Anime Ubuntu
Its an intriguing idea. I am unsure as to how you could convey an anime theme. I think for something totally out-there like this, you will be forced to use the pixmap engine. Some ideas: -The buttons could resemble speech bubbles like in the comics/manga. -errors could have the eardrop that anime characters get when conveying embarrassment. -warnings could be the jagged bubbles, suggesting the computer is angry at you. -The drop down menus could be scrolls and such like. I cannot think of this kind of theme already being made. As such I suggest downloading a really good pixmap theme from gnome-look, and getting comfortable with that particular engine. Making a mockup in Inkscape/Gimp may help you visualize what you want your final theme to look like. Please keep us informed, because I would love to see where this may go. You could start learning by downloading the theme and inspecting it's contents.
