I haven't looked at those courses for a while, but in my experience,
relationships are far more likely to get you a job than certifications.

Paul,

relationships mean experience in your context ?

I just mean that the old saying It's not *what* you know, but *who* you
know is very true when it comes to employment.

Hi Tom,

If you look at job ads for linux system administration, the ad will
more likely mention Redhat certification rather than LPI.

The other thing is that the LPI101/102 are fairly straight forward but
basic. Working towards LPI201/202 would be of more value to
prospective employers.

I have two Dvico dual 4's for 4 tuners that multiplex so I can in fact
record 8 channels if 4 of them are on the same multiplex. They work
great however unfortunately I think you still need to drop in some
firmware but I think they are now supported in the kernel even the
rev2's. Even if they are not compiling the drivers are straight
forward.

Speaking as a LPI 1 (101/102) alumni (self-study, no course), it's
been mentioned exactly once in my job hunting, by a recruiter for a
job I didn't get.

I suggest a RHCE will attract more attention, but an LPI 2 or 3 might
also be worth it.
I'm considering getting the Ubuntu add-on to my LPI, and either
getting the LPI 2 or RHCE on top of that.

Cheers,
Frode

I'm sure the general stuff you learn for LPI 1 will be a good base to
build from, as RHCE is a more senior level of sysadmin knowledge.
Not having done RHCE as yet, that's as specific I can get.. :P

I have not decided if I am going to do LPI 2 and 3 also

Study for LPI 1 first, then decide where to take it.
Alternatively, do the lower level RH exam - RHCT - first, then go on
to RHCE. Red Hat exams are a bit pricey, so make sure you study and
practise lots first.

Frode

Thanks so the dvico dual 4's work a treat eh, is that the same for the

time benefit be seen.

Thanks guys and girls any other tried and tested as MSY is nearly
