re: install fest Sat 7Jan 2012

2012-01-05 Thread Anthony J. Brow

Hi there,

This event has been well publicised, but what about the people from
outside Brisbane. HOW do we get there, is there parking ?? Or is the
train/bus recommended ?? If so, how far is the venue from stations/busstops.

Sorry this a bit of a late minute question, but the answers may help
more folks get there.

Re Glabels Business Cards

2010-08-02 Thread Anthony J. Brow
Hi Folks,

When attempting to make 'bizcards' with 'GLabels', I ran into trouble
when printing the cards. I picked a 90mm x 50mm size card in GLabels
2.2.8, run in Lucid Lynx. The result after printing, was a card size of
86mm x 46mm. I tried different card brands and sizes and no matter what
I did, the cards were not the correct size after printing.
Oh yes I managed to get the correct size but I had to use a 'mailing
label' of 96mm x 56mm and trim that down to 94mm x 54mm before printing.
Only then did I get the correct size. So I ask you : is there a bug in
this program ? Can this be rectified ? GLabels 2.3.0 is still in the
development stage, so it cannot be used.
Has anyone else had this problem and if so, can this be rectified ?

many thanks
Tony

re: Gramps 3.0.4-1 Genealogy

2009-01-03 Thread Anthony J. Brow
Hi Folks,

Do any of you on this list have experience with Gramps. I agree with
remark that this program is quite labour intensive.

When putting in names and later wanting to edit/add a 'spouse' to the
name, I find that the 'spouse' item is grayed out
in the edit colum. The same goes for 'siblings' and 'children'.
Is there a remedy for this ? I have not found this in the manual.

I have tried more than a dozen of 'Windoze' genealogy programs through
'Wine' and 'Crossover', in Hardy Heron, but I find this slow and
useless.

Over to you, 'experts' and thank you in advance

Tony
