Re: Need Some Advice

2010-12-22 Thread Ryan Macnish
Hello there,

It seems its rather complicated to install the Intel Fortran compiler under
Ubuntu/Linux, although if you jump on IRC (Internet Relay Chat) and connect
to irc.freenode.net and the channel #ubuntu-au, i can help you out in real
time, which may be easier for you.

Some instructions are here, although you may not understand much of that
since you have no Linux experience:

http://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/using-intel-compilers-for-linux-with-ubuntu/

http://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/using-intel-compilers-for-linux-with-ubuntu/and
you can chat to me and others from the LoCo team by reading the information
here:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/AustralianTeam/IRC

Hope this helps

Ryan Macnish (nisshh on irc)

 Hi ,
I am new to the Ubuntu . I don't know anything about Ubuntu or Linux.
But I have to use Ubuntu / Linux for running Intel Fortran.
I found I need to learn lot about Ubuntu even before I install the Intel
 Fortran in my computer.
Simply telling I don't know at least how to install the Intel Fortran.

Can some one suggest me how to learn the Ubuntu ( or Linux ). I am not a
computer expert so I prefer to learn from basics.
At the moment I am based in Perth. But I don't mind travelling any part of
 Australia and getting lessons.

 Thanks
 Thisara

Most universities would have many unix and linux users willing to help you out.
Perhaps there is a linux user group on campus.
