Fwd: Ubuntu Open Week Call for Participation Announcement

2011-04-08 Thread Jared Norris
Good morning/afternoon/evening Ubuntu AU'ers,

Sorry if you've already found this but I thought I would forward on
the following email. If anyone was considering running a classroom
session this would be a good time to get started. For everyone else
wanting to learn more about anything Ubuntu there should be something
for everyone's interest.

Regards,

Hello everyone,

We are preparing for the next Ubuntu Open Week, which is the week
after release, Mon 2 May - Fri 6 May. Ubuntu Open Week is a week-long set
of IRC workshop sessions held by various members of the community to
the public. They cover a vast set of topics, anything from development
to LoCos, translations, bugs, answers, launchpad, bzr, packaging,
community development, and more.

As you can see, the schedule is blank:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuOpenWeek/

We are collecting interested topics for discussion here:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuOpenWeek/Prep

We need you! *Volunteer* to run a session or two today!

Once we get a good set of topics we will begin filling up the schedule
and then announcing it to the general public.

**Remember  - Open Week is not the same as Developer Week, the target
audience is people who are currently not developers but are interested
in joining the project.**

As such introductory or beginner topics are recommended. This is also an
opportunity for teams to do talks that get people interested in
whatever you're working on. If you've done an Open or Developer week
before and are interested in running a session then please jot down
your topic on the /Prep page.

If you're unsure, send myself or akgraner an email mail or ping
one of us in IRC and we can help you get started. Once we get a nice list of
topics we will begin scheduling people according to time zone,
availability, etc.

Thanks, your openweek ninja team,

Ubuntu Open Week

2008-04-28 Thread Andy Goh
Good day,

Just to drop the words that they are running Ubuntu Open Week this week,
just join #ubuntu-classroom and follow the sessions starting on 1500 UTC
(which is practically impossible for us in AU to follow, unless you're
up late)

You can also get the logs here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuOpenWeek
