I don't know why you are throwing away 3 years of google juice a good
domain name - but its your site do what you want with it.

I think they way you have described the discussion of the forums to be
very self serving and plain wrong. There has been lively debate
periodically, I have seen no flaming that you referred to. You also
seem to have completely ignored the compromise proposal by the most
vocal critics of the idea of having a forum. "I'm not trying to stir up
any further discussion on the idea", would that be because the
discussion might hold you accountable for your claims above?

I think the forum should be renamed as it is currently claiming to have
some connection to the LoCo. I would suggest '"Unofficial" Australian
Forum' is more accurate. Either way I won't be contributing to it.

Cheers

Dave

"What Is Ubuntu" Project -- New website and forums

2009-11-12 Thread Chris Jones
Some of you may remember, almost 3 years ago I set up a small website
and project called "What Is Ubuntu Project".

After 3 years, the project has changed direction and has moved from the
old url of www.whatisubuntu.com > http://whatisubuntu.freehostia.com

The site has changed a little, but in a good way. And I have now added a
forum for some simple discussion about the project, if members wish to
communicate.

Now, I know this has been a controversial topic in the past and by no
means am I flogging a dead horse, but I just wanted to advise those who
are interested, that in the forums there is a Ubuntu Australia LoCo Team
thread.
Many of us, including myself, have long brought forward the concept of a
Aust. LoCo Team Forum to the members of Ubuntu Australia and
UbuntuForums.org, with limited interest and quite a flaming for some of
us!
But THERE ARE many of us that support such a forum. Therefore, I have
created an "unofficial" one for those who wish to take part.
It can be found at http://whatisubuntu.freehostia.com/forums

Once again, I'm not trying to stir up any further discussion on the
idea, but advising users there is an option out there.
And I guess I'm just making use of the beauty of the internet and
encouraging the Ubuntu Community to jump on board and support an
independent project.

Any questions, feel free to ask.

Cheers for now.
