Hi David,

I haven't experienced this behaviour however here are a few links that
might be of assistance:

http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Bookmarks+not+saved

http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Toolbar+keeps+resetting

http://kb.mozillazine.org/Bookmarks_not_saved

See if any of these resolutions fix your issue.

  Hi Rob and others.
The bookmarks are not staying after closing firefox. Each day when I
reopen firefox I have to do the restore thing. Am I missing something
that makes them stay linked to firefox after it is closed each day?
  Thanks David

Yes - find it at http://www.firefox.com/sync

I've been using it for a few months without issues (only the bookmarks -
i turned off the password sync and everything else), although as with
most online applications, if you're on a laptop and online, offline,
online, offline all the time it needs a kick to connect sometimes.

Re: bookmarks in firefox

2010-10-29 Thread Rob Dawson
Hi David,

I can't tell you what caused the issue but I do know that Firefox makes
a daily back up of it's bookmarks to it's profile folder. To restore
them you should be able to go to Bookmarks - Organize Bookmarks... -
Import and Backup - Restore and then choose the date of the backup you
want to restore from.

Having said that, I have an add-on installed called Xmarks
http://www.xmarks.com/ that allows me to synch my Firefox settings
(bookmarks etc) between multiple machines. This allows me to have my
settings identical on my laptop and home PC, as well as providing me
with an 'off site' backup function should I ever suffer the issue you
just have. The add-on has been around for ever and has worked
flawlessly for me for years, and best of all - it's free!

Hope this info helps.

Cheers,

Rob

bookmarks in firefox

2010-10-29 Thread David Johnson
Hello all
I am using 10.04.on Acer 55386 laptop. I am not sure weather this was
related to an normal update or just a random event. I turned on my
computer yesterday morning and all my book mark have disappeared. Is it
possible they could be still somewhere on the computer or is it likely
they have vanished in to the ether.
 Thanks David
