re: install fest Sat 7Jan 2012

2012-01-05 Thread Anthony J. Brow

Hi there,

This event has been well publicised, but what about the people from
outside Brisbane. HOW do we get there, is there parking ?? Or is the
train/bus recommended ?? If so, how far is the venue from stations/busstops.

Sorry this a bit of a late minute question, but the answers may help
more folks get there.

Glad to hear, I've been trying to balance the thin line between
exposure and spam. As far as getting to the event goes it's right in
the heart of the CBD so really public transport should be a breeze. I
personally will have a car full of stuff for the day so I will have to
drive in. I plan on parking in the King George Square Carpark which is
about a block away from the library. The best 3 links to think about
as far as the venue goes are:

The main event page for this event with general address details and times:
http://loco.ubuntu.com/events/venues/Australia/659/detail/

The location page for the Brisbane Square library with address details
and a map:
http://loco.ubuntu.com/events/venues/Australia/659/detail/

The Brisbane City Council website link to the Brisbane Square Library
with all the specifics:
http://www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/whats-on/Whats-on-database/venues/index.htm?q_venue_id=211

Sorry this a bit of a late minute question, but the answers may help more

Last minute questions are better than someone missing out by not
knowing, thanks for asking it.

2012-01-05 Thread boden.matthews
I believe there may not be too much parking - most is street parking (I think), but there is an underground carpark at the Treasury Casino, which is pretty much next door but I think it would probably be astronomically expensive to park there for the day. Also, I will have a special display for the day - a native port of Ubuntu to the HP TouchPad (9.7" tablet), which we can show off Ubuntu's flexibility by being able to run on ARM-based mobile platforms. I can get my HTC Desire booting Ubuntu for the day too, if we want.-- Sent from my HP TouchPad. Please excuse any brevity or typos. On 05/01/2012 7:22 PM, Jared Norris jrnor...@gmail.com wrote: On 5 January 2012 18:20, Anthony J. Brow tb...@internode.on.net wrote:
