[Bug 52539] Re: backport vim 7 to dapper
I use Dennis' vim7 backport extensively for programming, email and general text editing. I have a fair number of scripts, macros and plugins that all work fine. The spell checking and omni completion both work great, as does every other older feature I use. I use it daily with no problems. -- backport vim 7 to dapper https://launchpad.net/bugs/52539 -- ubuntu-backports mailing list ubuntu-backports@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-backports
[Bug 52230] Re: [Backport Request] Pcmcia-cs is obsolete, but it's required by ubuntu-desktop package
Backports cannot really "fix" this bug (in terms of removing deprecated pcmcia-cs from systems)... Backporting a ubuntu-desktop package that does not have this dependency will not do much at all... dist-upgrade won't remove pcmcia-cs, and adding Conflicts is too much in my opinion, as I'm not sure what upgrade scenarios it might break. As far as the init script, it takes 0.3 seconds to execute on my Dapper machine, roughly 0.8% of boot time. So, it's not really worth removing invasively at all. -- [Backport Request] Pcmcia-cs is obsolete, but it's required by ubuntu-desktop package https://launchpad.net/bugs/52230 -- ubuntu-backports mailing list ubuntu-backports@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-backports
[Bug 52539] Re: backport vim 7 to dapper
I can confirm that it works okay. I use it constantly, including use of the latex suite. -- backport vim 7 to dapper https://launchpad.net/bugs/52539 -- ubuntu-backports mailing list ubuntu-backports@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-backports

[Bug 52539] Re: backport vim 7 to dapper
There seems to be some interest in vim7 packages for dapper. While I prepared some test packages, I still have not got any answer whether they work for you or not. since vim is a rather important package, I'd like to hear some storys how the new package work for you. I have already done a simple 'works for me test' which consists maily of starting and openening a file. I'm more interested in advanced users who are actually using more than the basic features of vim before considering to upload vim7 to dapper- backports. -- backport vim 7 to dapper https://launchpad.net/bugs/52539 -- ubuntu-backports mailing list ubuntu-backports@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-backports

why did you reject your bug? I'm reopening it, since I think having scorched3d 40 in dapper-backports is a good idea. currently testbuilding locally here... ** Changed in: dapper-backports (upstream) Assignee: (unassigned) => Reinhard Tartler Status: Rejected => Needs Info -- scorched3d 40 https://launchpad.net/bugs/53488 -- ubuntu-backports mailing list ubuntu-backports@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-backports
