I have added functionality to automatically download HPLIP's proprietary plug-in if needed into system-config-printer upstream. The user gets informed about why the plug-in is needed or recommended and when he confirms it gets automatically downloaded. Sun Java 6u12 is an official release for all platforms. I must add to the votes for it, as it has a working 64-bit plugin for Web browsers which is considerably more stable in my usage here than any of the other Java plugins available in Intrepid, including the OpenJDK one.
