[Bug 251737] Re: [needs-packaging] Mac4Lin - make linux look like Mac OS X

2009-06-08 Thread drizad
I have added this inside the repository:
http://ppa.launchpad.net/mac4lin/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main

but unfortunately it seems that mac4lin-usplash is not included in the
mac4lin-desktop package.

Please see the attachment for the error message.

[Bug 384971] Re: Please backport sword 1.6+dfsg-1 from Karmic

2009-06-08 Thread Dmitrijs Ledkovs
** Description changed:

  == Backport Request ==

  Please backport source package sword 1.6+dfsg-1 from Ubuntu karmic to hardy,
  intrepid and jaunty.

  1. Package is in karmic [0]
  2. No source modifications are required for all suites [4]
  3. Affects only it self
 1. compatible with system libraries on all suites.
 2. does not directly brake other packages on system.
 3. It *is* a soname bump.

 Output in karmic/pbuilder login
 # apt-cache rdepends libsword8
 libsword8
 Reverse Depends:
 xiphos
 libsword-dev
 libsword-dbg
 diatheke
 bibletime

 Libsword-dev, libsword-dbg and diatheke are build from the sword source
-package. I'm also requesting backport of xiphos and bibletime.()
+package. I'm also requesting backport of xiphos and bibletime. (Bug
#384978 Bug #384976)

 4. No changes to language interpreters.

  4. There are meaningful benefits to the users ~2 years of upstream feature
  development. There are no known security issues with neither old, nor new
  packages. It is library/API which is needed for new versions of xiphos and
  bibletime (which have hot new features). The actual sword library new features
  are listed in this changelog [5] (quite big see 1.5.10-1.6.0). Most
importantly
  is UTF-8 support, better locale support, better tools to create Sword modules
  (bibles).

  == History ==

  In January 2009 there was a call from upstream [1] to update the Crosswire
  related software in Ubuntu because it was more than 2 years old. These
  applications are sword library, gnomesword (later renamed to Xiphos) and
  bibletime. It is bible study software (library) with command-line, QT/KDE,
  GTK/Gnome front-ends.

  Shortly this got cross-posted to debian-devel. A debian maintainer was found,
  but he did not have enough time to commit to all of these packages. Instead a
  new Ubuntu/Debian team was formed [2,3].

  We did miss feature freeze for Jaunty, but now we have all of these packages
in
  Debian Unstable and Ubuntu Karmic.

  To help testing and give users updated versions sooner we did stated to
provide
  PPA[4]. Now it holds same packages as Unstable/Karmic. And we do have a few
  users using our PPA.

  Compatibility Lenny/Hardy - Unstable/Karmic has been kept for all the packages
  because one of our other goals was to backport all of these packages.

[Bug 384978] [NEW] Please backport bibletime 2.0-1 from Karmic

2009-06-08 Thread Dmitrijs Ledkovs
Public bug reported:

== Backport Request ==

Please backport source package bibletime 2.0-1 from Ubuntu karmic to hardy,
intrepid and jaunty.

1. Package is in karmic
2. No source modifications are required for all suites
3. Affects only it self
   1. compatible with system libraries on all suites. (requires backports
   repository on hardy)
   2. does not directly brake other packages on system.
   3. depends on another backport bug #384971 (backend library libsword8)
   4. No changes to language interpreters.

4. Benefits to the users from release notes:

   1. KDE 4 support

   2. Improved user interface and handbook translations

   3. New dockable windows improve working with bookshelf, bookmarks and the
   magnifier area - you can drag and drop those windows or tabs to different
   places

   4. Bookshelf Manager installer has been redesigned. It's much easier to use
   and it doesn't block the rest of the user interface.

   5. The main Bookshelf panel has been rewritten. It's possible to group the
   works by Category and/or Language. Rarely used works can be hidden.

   6. Bookmarks have been moved to another tab. It's possible to move and copy
   folders.

   7. Bible and Commentary windows have dropdown lists for book, chapter and
   verse.

   8. Search dialog has an option for AND and OR searches.

Many other benefits see

[Bug 384976] [NEW] Please backport xiphos 3.1-1 from Karmic

2009-06-08 Thread Dmitrijs Ledkovs
Public bug reported:

== Backport Request ==

Please backport source package xiphos 1.6+dfsg-1 from Ubuntu karmic to hardy,
intrepid and jaunty.

1. Package is in karmic
2. No source modifications are required for all suites
3. Affects only it self
   1. compatible with system libraries on all suites.
   2. does not directly brake other packages on system.
   3. depends on another backport bug #384971 (backend library libsword8)
   4. No changes to language interpreters.

4. Benefits to the users from release notes:

 1. The module manager is no longer modal, that is, the module manager
does not monopolize the application's attention: You can begin
downloading or indexing modules, and then go back to work in the
main window.

 2. New interface translations: Norwegian and Welsh. We should have
an Afrikaans translation in time for 3.2.

 3. New prayerlists/journals offer sensible default names, and their
editor support is much improved, including offering to save on
close/quit.

 4. RtoL languages' (right-to-left, such as Farsi and Hebrew)
scrollbars go on the correct side.

 5. Bookmark support:
Search results may be saved as bookmarks or sets of bookmarks.
Bookmarks containing multiple verses work.
Single-verse bookmarks auto-navigate directly when clicked.
Multi-verse bookmarks engage the verse list, where individual
selections can be made.

 6. Automatic lemma lookup in inverted Greek dictionary for ancient
texts. This has marginal utility pending improvements to Sword's
dictionary support due to inconsistent key sort.

 7. 'j' and 'k' have been added for keyboard-driven verse selection.

 8. The passage copier/exporter is much improved, and similar to other
applications' function.

 9. In gtkhtml3 build, Advanced Search has gained a previewer scrollbar.

 10. A great many fixes and minor improvements to many subsystems:
- module archiving.
- locale handling.
- font size management.
- spacing and highlight alignment.
- mouse hover alignment selection on Strong's and morphology.
- parallel Bible selection preservation.
- splash icons, direction and highlight timing.
- numerous code refactoring, cleanup, and efficiency improvements.
- history management corrections.
- "shift to lock previewer" fixes.
- initial support for linked verses in Bibles.
- fixed initial font issue in gtkhtml previewer
- made the tab close buttons display correctly
- added module labels that remain visible in parallel tab/dialog

And many other improvements in Xiphos in 3.0 and 3.0.1 [1]

Binary package hint: sysstat

Hi all,
 Please backport sysstat 8.1.7-1 from jaunty to Intrepid.

sysstat (8.1.6-2) unstable; urgency=low

  * Upload to unstable.

 -- Robert Luberda   Sun, 09 Nov 2008 09:11:06 +0100

sysstat (8.1.6-1) experimental; urgency=low

  * New upstream release:
+ Daily data files format has changed again.
+ NFS v4 support added to sar -n (closes: #434442);
+ All sysstat commands are made consistent with how parameters are
  interpreted: "COMMAND " now generates a report continusouly,
  "COMMAND 0" causes an error, "COMMAND 0" displays a report
  since system startup (closes: #475707);
   + Option -S added to sadc, which replaces previous options -I or -d. Existing
 defaults file should be updated.
  * Standards-Version: 3.8.0 (no changes).
  * Merge the following change from Ubuntu:
- remove call to execvp() as it's not needed and has potential
  security problems.
  *
